Marlin Kibbe 2nd Recon., 2nd Infantry

Comments: Sgt. Marlin Kibbe of the US Army. Purple Heart recipient for being wounded in February, 1953 near Kumwha in Korea,and taken to Tokyo Army Hospital 8059th Army Unit. He entered service from Michigan. Looking for anyone who served with him just to hear about him before he got out, settled down and had children, as he didn't talk about the war very much. He passed away February 20, 2007.

Korean Translator Attached to 2ID

Comments: My father told me about a Korean civilian who had crawled out onto a field alone with a stretcher during a fierce gun battle during the Korean war (around 1950 or 1951) and rescued an injured American captain. The battle was so heated that no one else would go. Originally from N. Korea, the Korean man was known simply as "Oh-San." He had taught math in Japan, and since he was also fluent in English, Oh-San was subsequently attached by the captain to the 2nd Division as a translator.

Oh-San never told my father about the rescue which had taken place before Dad's arrival there; another soldier who had been there shared the story with my father.

If there were a way for me to locate Oh-San, I would. Time is growing shorter, and my father speaks well and often of his old friend Oh-San. At the very least, I hope that the full story of this act of selfless bravery can be discovered and told. (Thank you!)

Ch'ang-Song POW Roger McCabe

Comments: My father died back in the 1980's and I always wanted to know more about his time in Korea and as a POW. Like many who served, he did not talk about it much. Even after all these years, I would like to understand him better. I would like to be able to tell my boys, his three grandsons, more about him. Comments: i was a medic attacted to an i&r patrol that pursed the koreans that seperated a gasoline pipe line along the railroad tracks somewhere in korea in i beleive between may 54 and aug 54 we (the members of the patrol)had to write a report on that incident i would appriciate hearing from anyone who was involved in that incident

Comments: I think of the guys I served with a lot and tell my family of the wild times I had.Spent most of my off time at the EM club or at Johnny's bar in Pan-ai. I have been suffering from the effects of Agent Orange for about five years now. I have peripheral Neuropathy,but VA as of yet does not list it as AO related,even though there has been a lot of discussions on the subject,kick around Washington,the last few years.We have to keep up the fight,to get whats right.
