The 289th MP Company was cited for its performance in the difficult time during the period when we were in full retreat December 1950 - January 1951. In april 1951 we were transfered to Koji-Do to assist in the detention of POWs from Korea and China. I rotated back to the states in March 1952. I know he was a military police and his last name is Hicks but have very little information. We know he enjoyed playing softball. We have 2 pictures of him and would like to know more. He fathered a son with a Korean woman named Yong. I am married to that son and we have children whom we are wishing to gather medical and other information for our children. DORIS BURD wrote on October 31, 2007 City and State: PARKVILLE MO Unit: Service or Relationship: FAMILY MEMBER Comments: Hello, My father is Donald Heaston, he was stationed at the 8th Army Stockade in Japan approx 1948-1952 and guarded Japanese POWs. I would like to find someone who might remember him and get them in contact with each other. We do have a few photos we could share. He remembers Tojo was one of the prisoners the same time he was there. Unfortunately, he doesn't remember exactly which Company he was with. The only name he remembers is Johnny Walters, who was his best man at his wedding. He is in bad health however remembers A LOT about the times he worked for the 289. Ret) passed away in Ocala Florida on December 21, 2003 of old age. He was 86 years old. He retired from the mililtary after 22 years and was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War. Service or Relationship: ARMY VETERAN - KOREA Comments: I re'enlisted in March of 1950, at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.I was assigned to the 3rd. Plat. of the 289th.MP. Co. Commanded by Capt. Harry T. Van Note.The 1st. Sgt was "bIG" Jack Channey, my Plt.Sgt. was Sfc. Zuckerman. I had just compleeted a 3 year tour in Japan, in the Yokohoma Harbor Patrol (Port Military Police)I had lied about my age when I enlisted at Fort Sam in 1947. When the 289th. was moved out to the Korean War, I was 19 years old. Our first casualty was a Pvt. LLoyd Mangram. He tried to jump through a window on the Troop Train near Gallop, New Mexico on the way to the Embarkcation center in Calif. I staied with 289th. untill Jan. of 1952, and left Korea to be re-assigned to the 545th. MP Co. of the 1st Cav. in Northern Japan. Keywords:
