| ANTHONY RESINA wrote on February 1, 2009 City and State: BRONX NY NY Unit: Service or Relationship: ARMY VETERAN Comments: First got to Chun Chon in 1951. Trucks were old 6by6. Wooden steering wheel no doors no heater standard shift. Got to shift gears without depressing clutch pedal. Some trucks got a large heater sitting on left fender sucking gas out of the carburator. Had to clean carburator air filter that had oil in it after every run. Used raw gasoline to do the cleaning in cold temperatures. Carried everything from ROK troops to bread rice and vegetables. Also carried heavy cannon shells which were thrown on the bed of the truck and rolled all over the bed of the truck. I always thought one of them would explode. New trucks came in. Beautiful heated fully automatic. I was in heaven. Earned the Motor Vehicle Badge. Left Korea soon after the hostilites were over. Bumped into company cook in mid town NY by surprise. Thank a Veteran Keywords: Defile [ One lane traffic up Mountain]55 Batallion 252 transportation truck company. |
