24th at Fort Ord? |

Comments: Can anyone tell me if the 24th Signal ever trained at Fort Ord? If not the 24th, any other Divisions? I'm looking at several old maps of former Fort Ord and a Master Sergeant told me once that the 24th trained there at one time. Some of the notations on the map (such as RRST, MST, ST-##) are a little perplexing to me and I'd love to learn what they mean. The map is dated 1958. Thanks in advance for any information!

He did mention Pusan, Tajon, Inchon and being up around the thirty eighth par. He mostly talked of the extreme cold. A story that did bother him was when his Co. came across a bus losd of refuges the North machine gunned. I also know he was on grave reg. and spoke of taking care of a Chief Red Cloud?

We are not sure of certain dates and locations. However, I do know the
following: he was in the 24th headquarters signal company. He was
with them from approx. mid-1952 thru the latter part of 1954. He worked
running the wire lines. He has mentioned "Punchbowl" to me many times.
As I understand, this is a slang geographical designation for the area
he spent most of his time in Korea in or near.
I would be extremely grateful for any help you could give me.
Thank you,
