Comments: My father was in Kokura Japan and served in 24th Recon Company Before being shipped out of Sasebo on the Konga Maru to Pusan. He said he was in many replacement company's. He saw the British get blown out of their tanks he said they were called Wolf Hounds. He said he did not rotate cause he was their before the point system got to him in the Hospital in Sasebo he serve in Korea until 1952 from 1950. He remembers Gen Dean getting captured. My dad is 75 years old and his memory is fading if anyone knows anything about my dad please email me. He said the equipment the offloaded was 37mm antitank gun Useless against the Soviet T-34 tanks being used by the North Koreans. He eventually served in the First Calvary.

Comments: I'm trying to gather information about my father's tour of duty in Korea. He is currently under going treatmet for Alzhimers. I've always been told he was wounded more than once during his time in the Army.(He always said 4 times including histime Vietnam.) He also always relates a story of how he was a POW in Korea for a short time before he managed to escape. We know he was definitely wounded on Oct 29, 1951 in Kumsong. I would appreciate any additional information I can get.

Comments: I am a US Army Light Cavalry Troop commander. I am trying to get input from veterans that served in combat with light cavalry (i.e., scout cars, jeeps, M8, dismounted, etc)units. I will use input on training (what training was most important and useful in combat), tactics (i.e., what worked against both armored and dismounted enemy threats) to conduct my unit's training here. There is no true doctrine for light cavalry; most of it is modified from the "heavy" Cav. Thanks in advance.

Comments: Looking for information about my father, Sgt. Everette Austin Jr. He was in 21st infantry regiment and also served in the 24 recon company around Sept 1950. He was young at the time, I think he would have been 17. He was airborne qualified in 1949 at Fort Benning. He died in 1999 but talked seldom about his tour in Korea. I am interested in any stories about my father.

Finding Albert Clifton

Ted,
Albert W. Clifton enlisted in the army from Ocala, Fl, He was
WIA 9/21/50 which was a bad day for us of the 24th Recon Co. of the
24th Inf Div. since we had three KIA and eight WIA, that same day
the British 27th Brigade joined us and suffered a number of casualties
from an air strike.
I have made some attempts to locate Albert but to no success, He is the
only member of Recon so far as I know that you did not have on the list.
Thanks so much,
herman
