Comments: I am trying to locate anyone who served from July 1951 through January 1952 (Kumwah Vly) that might remember my Dad, Don Williams who was a medic and volunteered to take an ambulance to retrieve 4 GI's who got stuck in mud somewhere in the Kumwah Valley along with another medic. They got stuck as well, but were followed by a tank that pulled everyone out of the mud and got them back to the forward aid station. He should have earned the Bronze Star Medal for this act but never received it. My Dad is 75 now and I would love to be able to present this to him. Without someone to verify that this happened I am out of luck to make this happen. If anyone can help I would truly appreciate your assistance. Please email me at deelev@comcast.net

HEROES????? |

 |
JEFF BURNETT wrote on 2004-05-23 13:13:03.0
Comments: I know this is going to get some tick off but I think the word hero is over used way to much. I was a ex-marine who served his country and it was my honor to serve my country and my father who was a 82nd/101st airborne div in WWII, just like everyone elses dad or mom who went to work in a defense plant my mom making airplane parts lost upper left fingers when they were smashed. Mom was ok,we kids didnt know mom was hero, neither did mom,she just ran the home and took care of the company business back in the late 1940s thru 1985s when dad passed away and went on up stairs in 1995. Heros sit in a hospital with their missing arms ,legs, and minds gone not walking down in some dumb ass parade with their spit shine boots and the wifes and girlfriends on the side with the little flag as we push the vet in the wheelchair out of the way or brush them aside or not look at them or give them the overall respect they deserve. I love my country, I just wished that my country loved the disable VETS like they should be and treat them with more respect not like a toy on election years. I hope you are offened by what I have said so you to can wake up and run for politcal office cause these clowns we have now dont cut it if this is the best we have then we should call it quits right now... This is way I feel how do you feel about it....

Ususally starts them by saying,"you don't know how many times you came close to never being born." He has a bronze star and a combat medic badge. He has the 24th infantry division patch on one sleeve of his old army jacket. On the other sleeve is a patch that has a navy blue back ground (circle patch, with a smaller, thinner red circle, with a white capital "A" in the center. Was wondering what that patch was or means. Dad served 2 combat missions in Korea. Also has a patch that is the #2 Red/white on an olive green background. What does that mean?

Comments: My late brother Jack E. Treasure was a Tank Comander in Korea. He passed away in 1989. If anyone served with Jack I would like to hear from you. Our interest in Al Jolson goes back to my childhood; but Jack missed seeing JOLIE when he entertained our troops in Korea. Please let me know if you knew my brother Jack and if you saw Jolson. THANKS, John Treasure.
