Comments: Does Anyone here recall serving with Warren Lawrence Wendland; my father who has recently passed. He was stationed in the AC of S, G-2 Section, Headquarters 24th Infantry Division in Kokura, Kyushu, Japan. I am interested in his involvement with the Korean War and whether anyone recalls his acts that may have awarded him the Bronze Star Medal.
Thank you for any assistance

Comments: The family of Robert Quatier still participates in many ceremonies and gov't fact finding meetings regarding the Korean War. It is both a way of honoring him and trying to find closure. It would give the family both tremendous pleasure and a sense of peace to connect with someone who was associated with "Bob's" outfit, even if they didn't know each other. It's just the personal connection that the family continues to try and find.
If you or someone you know served at this time and place we would so appreciate hearing from you. Sincerely, C. Graber 360-256-2969.

Comments: My father served in the 21st Regiment in 51-52, and was wounded in action. He was sent to a hospital in Japan, then later returned to Korea. When he got back his original unit was turned over to the 40th Infantry Division (California National Guard). Because of this reassignment, my father never received the purple heart for being wounded in combat from schrapnel. After serving the remainder of his tour he was honorably discharged in California National Guard -40th Infantry Division. He would like to find anyone he served with. He was at the Iron Triangle area in Korea.

Comments: We are working on a film documentary of ND's most decorated soldier, M/Sgt Woodrow Keeble -- also known as Woody or Chief. Big guy, very strong, a member of the Sioux tribe of North/South Dakota.
We are searching for people who served or knew Keeble or have photographs of him. He served in WWII in the South Pacific, starting at Guadalcanal. Re-entered service in 1950 and fought in Korea with Co. G, 19th Inf Regt, 24th ID. Led 1st Platoon in Operation Nomad. Silver Star at Hill 585, on or about Oct 15-18, 1951. Distinguished Service Cross on Oct 20, 1951 at Hill 770 for leading 3 platoons, then single-handedly taking out three pillboxes on above hillside. Mst Sgt Keeble was twice recommended for the MOH for this action, but the paperwork was twice lost.
The family continues to seek this honor for him. Please, if you have any information, contact me.

He was stationed at Camp Gordon FL. and Fort Ord CA and I believe that he mustered out at Alameda or Oakland CA. His records burned in the 1973 fire and I need more facts so they can reconstruct them. Anything would be greatly apreciated! Thanks and God Bless!

My Grandfather was 1st Lt. John B. Stanton, he was a pilot during WW.II,
and during the Korean Conflict. He was KIA in Oct. 1950, an airfield
was named after him in HEIJO, KOREA, "Stanton Army Airfield".
I am trying to find some information, and possibly current status of
this airfield. Can anyone help?
I would like to meet someone who may have served or even flown with my
grandad. He was one of 18 Eighth Army Liason pilot's, who flew with the
famed 24th Infantry Division, and was stationed in Japan. I have many
letter's from people like the Commanding General of the 24th Infantry
Div., Maj. Gen. John H. Church, the Commanding Officer of the 15th
Aviation Company, 1st Cavalry Division, APO 24, in Korea, Major Thomas
E. Thompson, and 2 Adjutant General's of the Army, Major General Edward
F.Whitsell and Maj. Gen. WM. E. Bergin.
From KWP
The Camp was designated on July 1, 1961. Later renamed Camp Stanton.
Originally called A-112 built by Marine Engineers in 1952.
24th ID was there and 12 quonset huts built in 1955.
1st Cav and 15th Aviation Bn hQ there called Alpha 9.
7th Cav now resides there along with elements of 2nd ID, near Camp Owen
the camp surround the village of Tonggo-ri.
