KOREA REVISITED |
| JOE SAVITZKY wrote on December 26, 2007 City and State: TEL AVIV Unit: 24TH ENGINEER CONSTRUCTION GROUP HQ Service or Relationship: ARMY VETERAN Comments: I recently visited Korea again after some 53 years. I was invited to attend a convention of Korean War veterans from 16 nations that fought under the UN banner in Korea. It was something to see that variety of guys from all corners of the globe. But the main impression was of today's Korea. Unrecognizable! The ruins of Seoul have been replaced with a completely modern city- and the traditional villages are now 15-20 storey apartment blocks. Superhighways, bridges and raillines everywhere. As for our reception- it was something. All those aged Korean generals lined up to shake the hands of this big group of also aged ex-servicemen. A memorable visit for sure. Keywords: 24th Engr. Cons. Gp. HQ Engineering Section |
