Comments: We have a guy (Edwin Milton Leeper) in town who was a personnel clerk with CCo 245th Tank Bn, 45 Inf Div, Korea. He keeps seeking stories in the media about his Purple Heart from Korea. He will however tell different stories of how he got his Purple Heart. Story one is he was shot in the jaw at Heartbreak Ridge June 1953 and the other story is artillery shrapnel to his toe. He recent told the newspaper he was shot in the toe and spent 2.5 months in a hospital in Japan recovering. Your site shows him returned to duty. He ahs admitted to issuing himself an Air Medal an Bronze Star as a personnel clerk later in VN. He now tells people he was Green Beret and Airborne (and has later in writing admitted to being a wannabee). He just recently wore a woman's dress and poured cow's blood on "his" Purple Heart as an art project. Please help us wit the truth. thanks.

Comments: After not knowing much of my grandfather's history in Korea, I decided to ask him about it for and oral history project I am completing for college. He doesn't remember much about the war-by choice-but he does remember he was on Tank #15 of the 245th Bn. I thought it would be interesting if I could find someone he served with or who knew him well. His name is Lawrence Seifert but most call him Lolly or Lol.

Comments: I'm looking for anyone who may have served with my dad, Lt. Gene Hollar, in Korea in 1951-52. His handwritten service records listed "2450 Tank Battalion" but I can't find any records of that group. I think he may have meant this one-- the 245th. Dad was born and raised in Vernon, Texas. He graduated from Texas A&M with a 2nd Lt. commission in 1951 and was sent to Korea a few months later. He served in a tank unit until 1952, then was shipped out to Ft. Knox where he was discharged in 1953. Dad is now a resident of the VA Center in Lawton, OK. I will pass along any contacts to him there. Thanks very much.

I know one of you rolled up on it, laid your barrel almost on the dirt and knocked out an enemy cave bunker and jarred the ground around me when you did it :-) Do any of you tankers have photos of the hill ? What can you tell me about it and the enemy hill position ?
THANKS Vets

Comments: I remembered Capt. James Milton. He was A small man and had blond hair. We called him ( Little Jesus). We were detached from the 45th infantry division for some time and supported A French unit that was at Johnson Pass. We left this area for the Heart break sector. Shortly after getting to the heart break sector I rotated back to the states about Sept. of 1952. I had contact with SGt Robert McCabe who lived in New York after returning. Robert wrote me that shortly after we returned to the states that (A)company was over run at Heart Break sector and not many survived. I would like more details of this if any one out there knows about it. Thanks for reading.

Comments: My Father Floyd L. Stewart passed away 1999 and was a Tank Com in the 245th. He was called back home sometime may to july 1953 for emergency leave as our home was wiped out by a tornado in Georgia. In fact I owe my existence to that tornado. Family lore has it that when he returned to Korea something catastrophic had happened to the 245th in the period of his absense. I am curious to find out more about the 245th during that period and anyone that might remember my father. From what I gathered he ended up running a NCO club for the remainder of the war and was a member of the Color Guard that marched in New York at the end of the conflict.
