Comments: I'm hoping to find anyone who knew my dad, Erwin Heerdegen, from Chicago, while he served as a forward observer in Korea. I'm trying to get him the Bronze Star he was recommended for but never received, for staying in his position after being over run and calling in artillery. Does any of this sound familiar?

"ENCYCLOPIDA OF THE KOREAN WAR",VOLUMN 1 , PAGES 140 & 141. I am also trying to locate a copy of the written document that accompanied the Presidential Unit award ( was also called Distinguyished Unit Citation) given To Battery "C".
Interested in hearing from old buddies or their kin.

fighting 44th patch and an 8th Army patch. He underlined in one news
