Comments: You know, now I have gotten to the age of 65 going on 66. I look back on my days, and I still have memories of Chun Chon, (Camp Page) I just read where they closed her down. WOW. People will never know know the hard times, good times, and the mighty fine Cadre that served at this Camp. I was with the 226th Signal Company. I was a loud mouth kid of 17 years old. I had just first got there and they put my bunk on the top of the quansite hut, I had went out and into the village and had a few beers, maybe a girl, just depended on how much won I had. When I got back prior to 2300 hours, my bunk was on the roof. I had a hell of a time getting it down off there, but you can bet your ass one thing, that night no one slept unitl I got the bunk down, put back together and showered and took my good ole easy time doing it, remember some of the men were older because they had been drafted, I was young and healthy as a buck, and could move two days without any rest. It turned out that those same men that had down that turned out to be the best friends a fella could have. Colonel Metcalf was the Commander then, Hell of a man, he had us rolling all the time. I think he might have been trigger happy. You all know, Signal is first in and last out, no matter what the hell anyone tells you. I never moved so much Camo netting in my born days, we had trucks loaded with it. I never could understand this, while we were putting this netting over everyting, migs would fly over low, we would wave at them. Sometimes as we get older we see thing different, I promise. One time we spent 30 complete days on the DMZ, and slept in the two man tents, I do not think that the Army Air Mattress was worth anything, I never could get one to hold air. Anyway enough ramblings on. Just thought I would start you men thinking again, 4th Missile Command is gone forever. You all take care of yourself, Sam Snyder (m48tankerman)

Comments: My Father, Master Sargent Glen G. Williamson, one of your brothers in arms, served as a teletype repairmen in the signal company passed away September 17, 2008. He was one week shy of his 83rd birthday. I don't remember which signal company, but I know he told me he served under General Huddleston. He told me many stories. I miss him so much and deeply grieve his loss. He lived in Haynesville, Louisiana. He is survived by his spouse of 53 years, 3 children and 2 grandchildren. He was my father and I miss him. I honor his memory by honoring you men in whatever way I can. Sincerely, Keith E. Williamson

Bill Southern was a hell of an E-7. Got booted out of the HQ when "Snorkel and Otto" took over. Cliff Branch was CO, late AG of Alabama. Made lots of friends, Rod Fitz, Mark Silverblatt, Jim Goodman, Bob Petrusso, Warren Andrews, Bob Weide, Robert Lavallee, Freddy Rodriguez, Jeff Zilhaver and many others. I am still in touch with Tony Lamb and Chuck Cottom. Radke won't communicate and George Powell lived here in Gainesville for awhile but has moved away. Glad I was there would not do it again.

Comments: I went from Japan (Yokohama) to Korea (Inchon) aboard the USS General Mitchell on January 23, 1958. Billeted at Poop Young Nee until Camp Page was finished. We wore the 1st ROK Army patch on one sleeve and the 8th Army patch on the other. I started the special services office there and brought 6 bowling alleys up to Chunchon from Seoul on an Honest John flat-bed trailer. I also started other sports groups/activities at Camp Page. I did the MARS phone patches from Page to Tokyo early on. If anyone can remember any of this, please get in touch.

I know one of his service ribbons is the U.N. service ribbon. Anyone who might be familiar with Signal Corps graduate from Camp Gordon, GA. in 1954-55, or units assigned in-country those years, please contact me. I know that he was usually in a radio shack and rather isolated and handled primarily coded transmissions. But we simply have NO records indicating a unit, battalion, company, or anything else.

If anyone remembers him or knows how I can get a picture or a patch that was worn by the 226th please let me know. He told me it was something like the scull of steer. IÂ’m a retired Master Sergeant from the Air Force and just wanted to help him retrace his history. Thanks for any help

Comments: Please men, out there is an Organization fighting for us to receive some recognition for the time we spent in the land of the sliding doors. I never thought anyone but me every worried about things like this, the more I get involved, I realize we, being human want to be recognized for the work we done in Korea. I have never figured out till this day, why the War in Korea was named the forgotten war. Every thing in my life time was about another war or conflict, nothing about the fine job we done defending out freedon on the DMZ in Korea. Everyone in the Military deserves to be recognized for the work or job he has done or received. I wonder many times about the fine job that was done by the Military in Korea, and it still going on. all the tings we had to do, and many of us were in units that never received any thing, I have no reason why, we the 4th Missile Command had the biggest Bullet, even had nuclear capabilities for our Missile, and we had the Infantry, Engineers, Hqs Co., MP,s Signal, Aircraft, but you know through the years, we were not even known about. I finally read stories about Camp Page, Korea and how it came to receive its name, and various other camps through Korea. You know I have finally have come to the conclusion that a 17 year boy, out of High School, did not know anything anyway. My Daddy taught me finish High school, join the Army, and be proud to do so. That's exactly what I done, and I am sure there are thousands of Veterans did the same thing. I did just exactly what I was supposed to do, and now I am looking for a Medal after 40 odd years. If I would have had a Computer, I would have been raising the Dickins a long time ago. Any way I have got sidetracked a little, I GUESS THAT WE STILL HAVE A CHANCE BEFORE MORE OF US DIES, TO GET SOME RECOGNITION. JOIN THE KOREAN DEFENSE VETERANS ALLIANCE AND LETS FIGHT ONE MORE TIME. ANYWAY I CAN HELP YOU GET STARTED GIVE ME RING AT (304)474-3640. WE ALL NEED TO GET GOING, THERE HAS BEEN MEN WORKING LONG AND HARD FOR ALL OF US, YES AND I BELIEVE WE ALL CARE ABOUT THIS. Thanks for lending me your eyes. Try to make it to Church Sunday, and lets all pray for out Soldiers on land, air, or water.

Comments: Hello out there, I would have thought by now that having already put one entry into the system about the 226th, I would have made some contact. I musta not been too popular with the men. or maybe their all dead, or maybe they have better things to do than set around trying to communiciate with other folks that they have not seen in 45 years. Well one thing for sure the time I spent in Korea with some of the best men I ever knew is worth the wait. If any of you are out there give me a shot. I Was with the 226th Signal at Chunchon during 62 and 63. I worked with a fellow I believe his name was thourton, one of the best Radio Repairman I ever knew. Our CO. was Capt. Wilcox and our Top Sgt. was Gibson. Our post commander was Colonel Metcalf. He gave me a day pass for making Colonels Orderly for being the sharpest Soldier on Guard duty. We lived in those trucks backwards and forwards to the DMZ, doing the best we could establishing Communiciations for our Camp Page, Seoul, and the United Nations Command. Left Korea after 14 Months even without a National Defense Medal, which I never was awarded. I applied about 3 months ago, another thing I feel that is not so great about things, I drove the whole time I was in the Army and even drove a General a couple of times, and was not even awarded the Drivers Badge. I got back to the states and went to Ft. Hood, where I worked on Radios, Teletypes, Roadgraders, Tanks M-48's and VTR's M-88's I was with the 1st A.D. 123 Maint Battalion, all that driving even went and live on the Desert with the Army, between Needles and Cadiz, worked on everything out there, even drove a 5 ton Tractor out there at 40 miles an hour., still no drivers badge. O.K enough of that, sorry for bending your ears, or would it be your eyes, but you Veterans are the only ones that understand this type of thing, that little piece of tin, really meant something to me, if they would put it on my DD-214, I'd buy it myself. Please Comrades lets all pray for the Brave men in Afghan. Merry Christmas to you folks, and don't forget a little Cake for Jesus. Sam W. Snyder sampam@wirefire.com

We supported the 4th missle command in every way including signals. Its good to see the name every once in a while. Any you men, want to chew the fat about the old days on the DMZ, I have my share of stories also. I am now 57, and boy, did I get old fast. Have your PSA checked, I just had my Prostate removed. Comments: I am interested in obtaining information on my father's unit in Korea. He was a Reserve soldier called up in 1950 and assigned to the 229th Signal Operations company of the 10th Corps. As a combat signalman he served with many combat units during his tour there and remembers the retreat the perimeter and the chinese intervention. I would like to obtain a unit history or any information on his unit during his tour from 1950 - 1951. I obtained his records and had heard his unit had a book published somewhere. I assume by the Signal school. I noted that during this time there were at least four champaigns fought there. He has many interesting stories. Thank you for your time. Scott Wallace MAJ(Ret)
