Comments: I am in search of any and all information that I can get on my Grandfather

Harry M. Lee who was a Purple Heart Recipient and was a part of Company 1 224th Infantry during WWII and the Korean War.

I apologize for not knowing anything more than this but this is all that I have on his head stone from Fort Snelling.

Thank you in advance.

Comments: Looking for info for my uncle who is ill and trying to obtain VA assistance. His name is James (Jimmy) Therrien from Manchester, NH. His DD 214 lists dates of service from Jan 1953 to Jan 1955 and he was awarded a CIB in August of 1953. Believe he was in heavy combat (Pork Chop Hill but can't prove it) and trying to verify this for VA. CIB orders list Co K 224th Infantry. Not sure which BN and assume the 224th was part of the 40th. Can somebody tell me how to track the campaigns the K/?/224 was in, it would be appreciated greatly. Thanks

very young and I don't remember him at all but I have his Purple

Heart and huge scrap book from Korea my Grandmother made me. It

is all I have to pass on to my Grandson but I have always been

proud to be Frank Uhyrek's daughter. I don't see anything on the

I was to be the teacher for incoming replacement. I was acting
sergeant, acting First Sergeant, Acting Administrative First Sergent
in the Hq and Hq Company. On Koje-do the incoming Regimental
Commander called all the NCO's to a meeting in the large barn
like mess hall and announced that he had never confronted a
situation such as ours: only eight of the NCO's were being paid for
the rank...the rest of us were wearing red stripes and were
acting.

What NG personnel were left when I joined them were
of fine quality soldiers, knew their job and didn't
hesitate to perform it. I only regret the loss of Pvt
Jackie White, from Joplin, MO, KIA while on a patrol
in a firefight, he was an excellent BAR man, took out
several enemy before he caught one and was taken out,
I regret that he was only 16 years old, we that knew
it were just about to report it.. So sad, even now
sad we didn't. He died in the Sata-ri valley.

Comments: I've got an old canteen that my grandmother had when she had an antique shop here in Northern California about 30-40 years ago. It had a gold wedding ring attached and the canteen is inscribed. On the front says Korea, March 1952, Captain and under that is San Goo but not sure if this is a name or place?, Sniper Ridge, and on the back it says 224th I.F. "Sons of Hell". There is a word above this which has been mostly worn off but the last letters are I think "lc. e" Maybe was a name and it was probably a 3 or 4 letter word that ends in lc. It doesn't seem to be like any US canteen that I've ever seen. Has a wooden stopper and canvass straps. Anyone have any info on anything about Sniper Ridge or maybe this canteen? Just curious if this guy returned home or not since it has a wedding ring on it.

LOOKING FOR INFORMATION ON LOTHAR HESS

Comments: My Dad passed away in 2004. He served as a Bazooka Man, 224 infantry, company E. He was awarded a Bronze Star I believe on December 18, 1952. Like many, he rarely spoke of his time in the service. In his entire life, I think he mentioned 5 stories to me, and 1 was from Boot Camp in Alabama and 1 from when he returned home.

I am trying to trace his combat exploits, and circumstances around the medal being awarded. If anyone has information, photo's etc. it would be greatly appreciated. I believe he served from September 1951 thru May 1953

Comments: Gentleman - Millard Orval (Pat) Patton, or Pappy I think Bob Welch said they called him when they served together in the Heavy Mortar Company 224th Infantry Regiment 40th Division. My Father passed away four years ago Monday. Before he died a few of his Army buddies came by to see him and others attended the funeral.

I have all of his information he had on the war and have gained a tremendous respect for those who served.
I have done a lot of reading and recently put together a photo album with the picture from the war.

I wanted to thank all of you for not only what you did for my father, but for the whole country.

I wanted to form a group on FaceBook where we could post pictures and make comments to share information on the war.

I would love to hear from any of you who served in the war with him.

Dad always looked forward to the reunions and I know he will be there in spirit with all of you.

Thank you so much.

Sincerly,

Gary Patton

Comments: I am looking for anyone who served with or under my great uncle, Roger E. Lemire. He was awarded the Silver Star on 5/27/1952 for gallantry in action near Chuja-dong, Korea and the Bronze Star during the Second Korean Winter. If you have any pictures, it would be most appreciated!

Comments: I'm Jon Peck, son of Don "Butch" Peck from Plainville Mass. My dad was in K Co, 224 Infantry. He was pretty recognizable as he only had two fingers on his right hand.

I was recently going through some of his things (he passed in 1990) and found many pictures of his time at Camp Cooke. Fortunately, he did a good job of labeling his pictures. I have some pictures taken in Feb 51 of Ed Shilo (Norwood MA), Tex Lenard, Al Stearns, Ed Ronach, Mike Russitti, Sgt Kaye, Tom Shea, Pete Rappaha, and Nick Interdernado. No guarentees on the spellings! Also there are various other base photos (barracks, chapel, 40th Inf Div Sign, etc.)

If you're interested in seeing them, please let me know.

Thanks

Jon

Comments: Hello,

My father in law is Roy Shiba. He served in the 224th HQ Company. He said that he started with the engineers and then became the driver and interpreter for the Hq Commander in Japan. I have a picture of him at Camp Cooke in 1950 before the unit deployed to Japan and then Korea. He does not have any other records and his service records were destroyed in the 1976 fire in St. Louis. I am trying to find a copy of orders or anything else to help establish his service. If you have anything or would like a copy of the picture. Please let me know.

Thanks!

Danny
