Comments: Just a note to say that you have changed the life of this one man: Stanley Carroll of the 223rd Infantry Regiment's Tank Company. He was: Cpl. Stanley Carroll, bow gunner (and assistant driver) sat behind a 30 caliber machine gun, in "Vat 69". Stanley has been suffering from PTSD (a common post war syndrom). A clipping from the paper states: "He lost his seat when the mine exploded. The escape hatch and seat simply dropped out from under him. "It's like somebody gave me a good wallop" Stanley Carroll recalled. A buddy, Cpl. Richard James of Baldwin Park cut in: "Aw, so what! You're always sitting down anyway."
We posted this site with several months ago and it includes a few names and he has heard from several vets of many branches and different years too. http://www.geocities.com/slmaps/Carroll.html
But we want you to know that some very wonderful men wrote to him and one sent him a couple treasures (two "Vay '69" Scotch collector canisters) he is Greg Lawritson. Frank O Pruit is writing a book and served in the Tank Company of the 223rd Regiment in Korea from May 1952 until January 1953, and he also sent a wonderful letter to Stanley. Ted sent some pictures that he also treasures (from Ted Stockman) of the 223rd division, he was in the 223rd Tank Co., 40th Division until October 1951. We want to say thank you again for helping those who helped us. **Note written by friends of: Stanley Carroll who is now smiling and proud of us for remembering.
