Comments: I am trying to find information on my father's time served in Korea with the 223rd, K Company, between 1950 and 1952. He didn't like to speak about it, but gave me an album with photos, news articles, letters, maps, name and address lists, etc.
If anyone recognizes his name or knew him (GEORGE L. BROWN), I would really appreciate anyone sharing their memories. He passed away 3 years ago, and this will help me to put this part of his life to rest. How does a daughter go about requesting (or ordering) her father's medals and badges? I don't think he ever tried to obtain them himself.
And finally...where does a person find info on how to decipher his "Report of Separation"? All those acronyms have completely baffled me for years!
All of this information will help me to pass a part of his life history on to my children, his grandchildren. I think it is very important to remember the service of our Veterans, and to pass on their stories....and our gratitude.
THANKS, Linda L. Brown

Comments: At the present time I am building a web page on the 40th Inf Div. I am looking for photos that I can put on the site. I would like the photos to be from the Korean War period. Photos can be of people or places of interest. Photos of the Sandbag Castle, Heartbreak Ridge, Kumwha, Punchbowl, anything of interest that other members of the 40th Div can relate to. I have started the site and have a few photos. They can be seen at http://www.bob-west.com . When the page comes up just click on the 40th Div patch.(For you people that forgot it's the blue patch with the sunburst in the center.) (Smile) Thank you, any help what-so-ever will be greatly appreciated. BOB WEST

Comments: My message is looking for anyone who knows Earl Elvis Shelton, 40th Division, 223rd Infantry. Earl was from Iowa. He served in Korea in 1952-1953. There is a website that has his pictures on it and pictures of others who we do not know. If you go to this website maybe you will recognize yourselves. The website is www.bob-west.com If anyone should recognize themselves please let me know. I am Earl's daughter and am interested in finding anyone who knows what company he may have been in or who served with him. Thank you all so much. Julie Hartman

Comments: I got to the 1st Bat. of the 223rd Regmt, in early Sept of 52, at Kapyong, and shipped out for home in early Aug of 53. Served in Co. C, and Hq Co. I have been looking for an old friend from Co. C, Tommy Potts. He was a Squad Leader, and a Sgt, and was from Texas. He got injured in Jan 53, when we pulled out of the Punchbowl. Sure would like to contact him.

Comments: I am very proud to have served in the 40th Infantry Division. I will never forget the men I served with on those extremely cold mountains in Korea.
We lost some fine young guys over and I sometimes wonder what they would be doing now, had they survived that war.
I regret not going to see their parents, it may have given some comfort to them, at that time. Unfortunately most or all of their parents are gone.
