Comments: I am looking for anyone who remembers serving with Earl Powell (Roscoe Earl Powell). He was in Company B, and fought in the Punch Bowl area in the fall of 1952 as a 1st private. Earl Powell was my father (he died of luekemia in 1970). I have been told he spent time in a tank, but not sure in what capacity. He was from Indiana, and was promoted to corporal in March 1953, discharged in 1960.

He has been trying to receive a medal and due to a fire in Kansas City where his records were stored,we are unable to find information to help him to prove he was to recieve his Bronze Star. I would love to help my Dad recieve this medal he has talked so many years about. Please call, email or write us.

Comments: My father Robert F. Caty died last month. He grew up in Boston.Only after his death did we know the details of his participation in Korea. When he was alive he only spoke of how cold it was. I would like to know if anyone can remember serving with him and would like to know if there is an accounting of the activities of his unit somewhere. He was like so many of our veterans - did his duty for his country and returned without the need for recognition or fanfare.

Comments: My husband joined the 223rd in Korea and served as Exec Officer under then Colonel Louis Truman. I should like to hear from anyone who remembers serving with im. Shortly after his book "About Face" was published we met with Dave Hackworth and had an interesting visit. My husband and Dave had very different views of the regimental personnel. Martin remained on active duty, having been integrated into the Regular Army in 1957. He retired in 1968, enjoyed almost 30 years of retirement when he died in June 1997.

As only survivor of LT Scribner, I would appreciate any information at all on his death.
Thanks to Bill Currier for his input. "I knew LT Scribner. He was with us for a very short time as platoon leader of 1st Platoon, Co. C 1st Bn 223rd Inf. Reg. I was with him when he was killed in a fire fight on a night recon patrol on the centrol front in the 9th Cor. Sector. He was a brave man."

I just got some more information about 2LT Scribner's death, and I want to send it to his family. Todd Scribner, Submission 1118, submitted the request and gave his email address.
