DIFFERENT REGIMENTS, SUCH AS THE 27TH. 35TH.OR THE 24TH. STARTED MOVING NORTH FROM THE PUSAN PERIMETER DURING THE WINTER OF 1950. Comments: My father, Lt. Richard Y. Park, served in Korea from 1950 through 1951. He passed away in 1996 and I have been trying since then to find out where he served, what he did and who he served with. All I know is that he was awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts for action in Korea. I've been told that he was assigned to the 21st AAA AW Battalion (SP), but I don't know what company or battery he might have served with. He was promoted to Captain and served in England before being asigned to Ft. Bliss TX which was his duty station when he retired. If anyone knows or remembers my father, I sure would appreciate an email or letter. Thank you.

Comments: My grandfather was with the 21st AAA in Korea from 51-52. His name is Donald Thurman Kirk from Troy, Ohio. He recalls his Sergeant as being Dennis Muse. Not only would he be much obliged if we could receive information on anyone who might have any recollection of him during the war, but also he would like to know if anyone might know if Dennis Muse went on to become and Animator for cartoons in the past years. I would love to be able to tell my grandpa that i have received information on his ties in Korea. He constantly is reminded of the men who served beside him and wishes to hear from as many as he can. Thank you so much.

21st AAA AW Bn POW Experience of Du-Wayne Donithorne

Column_1_Spacer Column_2_Spacer
Roan McClure wrote on 2003-01-16 20:11:00.0

Comments: In March-April 1952 Du-Wayne Donithorne was carrying or had carried a message to Baker Battery from Hq Battery. He was captured by the North Koreans, kept and tortured in 2 or 3 different POW camps and then escaped naked while being taken to China, and walked back to the Allied lines traveling by night and holing up during the day. Do you know this man or his story?

He only told one man part of the story 3 years ago before he died in 2002. I am writing the story for his grandchildren as a surprise.

My phone toll free 866-832-8416 in Cave Junction, OR (SW corner of OR).

Hope you can help me or get me in touch with people who might have known Du-Wayne Donithorne. He then was the Message Center Chief of the HQs Battery, 21st AAA AW Bn., 25th Inf. Div. and left Korea early March 1953.

Hope you can help me. Roan McClure, Vietnam Vet with 25th Inf Div. (Cu Chi, RVN)

Comments: I joined Battery D in Fort Bliss in November 1949, fresh out of basic training. Learned to enjoy the desert (not the sandstorms), traipsing back and forth between Logan Heights and Oro Grande. Departed Nov 1950 for FECOM via San Francisco. Arr. Yokahama late November. Landed in Pusan early January 1951. Joined 25th Div in drive north. Battery D supported 24th RCT, later reorganized as 14th RCT. My odyssey back to Maine started in December 51. It took a month. Looking for others who shared this experience.

Comments: Dear Sir(s),

I am a Veteran's Claim Examiner with the US Department of Veterans Affairs, Chicago Regional Office.

I am currently researching a claim from a Veteran of the 21st AAA AW Bn during the period 11 Nov 1950 - 3 October 1951 while he was staioned in Korea.

I believe the Veteran is credible. In order to support the claim, I must have documentation concerning the unit history and/or a copy of the Distinguished Unit Citation narrative. using our normal sources, this would require a period of eighteen months.

Would you be able to assist me? I can provide a Fax number or I can receive scanned copies at my home.

Comments: Came up from the 29th RCT, Camp Napunja, Okinawa, to avenge the loss of my best friend in the Army--Walter Clark, 2nd Division KIA 9/19/61 and our 1st and 3rd Bns who were used as "Cannon Foddor" in the early days of the war and were annihilated. I retruned to the States and was honorably discharged at Camp Kilmer, N.J. in late Autumn 1952. My service was with the 21stAAA Aw Bn, 25h Infantry Division in Korea. Also a stint at the 25th Replacement Company, Yongdung Po.

Comments: I arrived at the 21st AAA Aw Bn by way of the 29th RCT, Okinawa; and the 25th Repro. Company, YongDung Po, Korea, sometime in September 1951. The first day "on line" was spent staying alive in an Artillary duel between the UN and China in the pouring down torrential rain. Later assigned to Headquarters Company somewhere between Yongdung Po and the Han River. My boss was the Battalion S-3. I also kept the records for Dog Battery under a CWO who I christened "Demori" Skinhead in Korean. We did not like each other, mainly because I was "RA" and he came from the Minnasota National Guard and thought I belonged in Korea and he didn't. I left Korea for the Big R in early summer 1952 and was Honorably discharged in late fall 1952. I later joined my friend Bill Norris, the first President of the Korean War Veterans, in the fight to get our Memorial in D.C. I served as National Director from 1994 to 1997; founder and past president of KWVA, Yongdung Po Chapter 114, Bucks Co., PA. My last mission is the didication of our Korean War Memorial at the Courthose in Doylestown, PA on June 23, 2000. All are invited to the dedication at 10:00 AM 6-23-2000.

My father(Ed Muckler) had served in the same outfit as Mr Pfriender(21
AAA- part of the 25th Division - Army) in Korea. Is there a chance we
are sending the mail with an incorrect address?

If you are able to help or can offer any advice, it would be much

I served with the 21st AAA in Korea from 52 through part of 53. Would
like to have information on anyone who served with me during that time.

Was there during last battles and during negotiations at panmunjom. Our
company commander was a Lieutenant Williams. Any connections with
personnel would greatly appreciated by E-Mail or other methods.
