Comments: I joined Battery D in Fort Bliss in November 1949, fresh out of basic training. Learned to enjoy the desert (not the sandstorms), traipsing back and forth between Logan Heights and Oro Grande. Departed Nov 1950 for FECOM via San Francisco. Arr. Yokahama late November. Landed in Pusan early January 1951. Joined 25th Div in drive north. Battery D supported 24th RCT, later reorganized as 14th RCT. My odyssey back to Maine started in December 51. It took a month. Looking for others who shared this experience.

Comments: Dear Sir(s),
I am a Veteran's Claim Examiner with the US Department of Veterans Affairs, Chicago Regional Office.
I am currently researching a claim from a Veteran of the 21st AAA AW Bn during the period 11 Nov 1950 - 3 October 1951 while he was staioned in Korea.
I believe the Veteran is credible. In order to support the claim, I must have documentation concerning the unit history and/or a copy of the Distinguished Unit Citation narrative. using our normal sources, this would require a period of eighteen months.
Would you be able to assist me? I can provide a Fax number or I can receive scanned copies at my home.

I retruned to the States and was honorably discharged at Camp Kilmer, N.J. in late Autumn 1952. My service was with the 21stAAA Aw Bn, 25h Infantry Division in Korea. Comments: I arrived at the 21st AAA Aw Bn by way of the 29th RCT, Okinawa; and the 25th Repro. Company, YongDung Po, Korea, sometime in September 1951. The first day "on line" was spent staying alive in an Artillary duel between the UN and China in the pouring down torrential rain. Later assigned to Headquarters Company somewhere between Yongdung Po and the Han River. My boss was the Battalion S-3. I also kept the records for Dog Battery under a CWO who I christened "Demori" Skinhead in Korean. We did not like each other, mainly because I was "RA" and he came from the Minnasota National Guard and thought I belonged in Korea and he didn't. I left Korea for the Big R in early summer 1952 and was Honorably discharged in late fall 1952. I later joined my friend Bill Norris, the first President of the Korean War Veterans, in the fight to get our Memorial in D.C. I served as National Director from 1994 to 1997; founder and past president of KWVA, Yongdung Po Chapter 114, Bucks Co., PA. My last mission is the didication of our Korean War Memorial at the Courthose in Doylestown, PA on June 23, 2000. All are invited to the dedication at 10:00 AM 6-23-2000.
