Comments: Looking for anyone who knew or knew of LINFIELD CROSS. He was with the 1st Calvary at Pusan. Was hit by rocket fire within first 5 days of being there. Lost alot of his memory. Was shuffled back and forth between different units to replace casualties. Remembers raiding a Russian built vodka distilliary. Low on ammo, but plenty of drink. Might have served in tank unit as a replacement.

If any of this sounds familiar please e me. Terrance Reis

Comments: I am trying to locate information on my uncle, MSGT. Roy VIZUETE. He was in South Korea and is listed as CAP/Captured on 07/25/50. He is now listed as MIA. He was from Pt. Arthur, Texas.

There is also info that he may have been taken to Manchuria in Oct, 1951.

If anyone knew him, any information would be appreciated.

Thanks so very much,

Gloria

Column_1_Spacer Column_2_Spacer
Richard Amadon wrote on 2005-05-30 00:00:00.0

Comments: IF ANYONE KNEW DICK OR THE DETAILS OF THE INCIDENTS REFERRED TO BELOW, PLEASE EMAIL ME. THANK YOU SO MUCH

I am Richard (Dick)G. Amadon, named after the uncle that I never met. I was born in 1953, and my Dad gave me his brother's name. Dick joined the Marine Corps on December 28, 1943. He served in the Pacific Theater for two years. He also served with the occupation forces in Japan. He was discharged as a corporal on May 23, 1947. Dick later joined the Army, on August 26, 1947. When the Korean War broke out in 1950, the Calvary was ordered there. The last word the Amadon family had from Dick was on August 29, 1950, in a Western Union Telegram. The telegram said, "Writing in detail. Please don't worry. Best wishes to all ay home." A few weeks later, the family received the telegram from the U.S. Government. Richard had been killed in combat. He suffered a fatal grenade wound to the chest, Sept 12, 1950. I believe that he was killed near Taegu, during the defense of Pusan/Naktong. A memorial to the Korean War has been erected in Uncle Dick's hometown of East Templeton, MA, and the memorial is named after him (Amadon Park), the first serviceman from the area to lose his life in Korea. I've always been proud to have been named after Dick, but also sad that I never met him. Someday.
