Comments: SFC John R Harp was my grandfather and a grand person. He taught me to be a man. He also taught me about the Korean war. I was always so suprised how many people my age, 29, know so little about the terrible atrocities commited against our troops there. Fire and Ice conditions and the ugly face of war. My grampa passed away on 14 August 2001. I was able to spend his last few months close to him and his last night and morning. I am writting a book on Korean war surrounding the stories my Grampa told me. I am looking for any input, or stories anybody who served with him can tell me. He left me a list of names of guys he served with. Their names are: Bianculli, Owens, Reel, (POW), Richard,Roberts, Rubin, Swartz, Wysocke, and his close friend Jimmy Fine who was killed next to him. He always said " why him and not me?" He was awarded CIB badge, 5 bronze stars, Korean presidential citation, Korean service medal. He joined the Army in November of 45, served as an occupation force in Germany. He was then shipped to Japan then on to Po-Hang on the MT. Mckinley then boarded LST's for an amphibous assault. He rotated home in May of 1951 then to Germany until discharged December of 1953. You must understand that I want my book as accurate as possible so any information would be greatly appreciated, thanks Zac R Harp.

Comments: I was stationed in Daegu, (Taegu) South Korea from April of 1946 to January of 1947, and was in korea just a short time before the bomb was dropped. I belonged to the 99th Military Government Group, and want to find old friends. I kept very poor records of the ship names, and I kept no records of friends names and contact information. Just hoping to find an old friend.

Comments: This is my first try in trying to locate those who I served with in the 15th QM in the Korean War. One is HAROLD BROWN, another was SGT PAPPY with a big beard & moustache. They all liked to play pinochle when not driving the trucks, we would play our wind-up record player in the tent and one guy constantly was singing Hank Snow songs. Another guy was "Englnd" or "English" and I drove truck #83. It would be great to hear from any of you and I would like to have a roster if anyone has one.

Barr the son of Thelma Joy Clifton Barr had a Triplet brother named Felmer Ray Clifton and Elmer Roy Clifton. Elmer Roy Clifton later died of wounds after coming back to America and I have looked in every Korean War Site without finding his name. Please respond for this has been bothering me for years and would like this error corrected. Thank you Phil Barr

Comments: Earlier today, a man by the name of Norman Forry bummed a smoke off of me at a Sheetz gas station in Fredericksburg Va. He wore a Korean Veteran ball cap and I asked about his service. He said that he belonged to the unit listed in the keywords and told me about the battle at hill 344 and that his platoon won the presidential unit citation. He also said that he is trying to get their story documented with a government agency which the name slips me. Mostly because in that battle he said there were about 3000 dead that he thought mabee unrecovered. He was a POW and said that his contribution to this countries freedom was insignificant compared to the men that gave their lives there. I was seeing if I could find more information on this subject on the internet and found this site and it seems that there are alot of people looking for members of the 1st cav div. 8th reg. so this is more to help anyone looking for a contact.

I did not get Norman's number or address, but I would guess that he lives in Fredricksburg and he could be listed. Your info could probably help him document his story also.
