He was a field medic. I do not know what unit he was in at the time. He retired out of the 1st Cavalry. He was a Cpl. during the Korean war. I am trying to find out about him being wounded during a missile attack on July 26,1950 in South Korea. The organization was Cv. Div. Inf. 1st. Element sequence wa IN DIV ART Hghg Btry. Unit 001. His name was James Edward LaMay and he was a LT> at the time. He was a foward observer. I have some photos of him describing a last push from the chinese some where around the area of the recon and Xmas hills. The pictures were of the 45th. I'm not sure if he was with the 45th or in support. After korea, he was assigned to Japan with the 1st Cav Division. His wife's name is Janelle and he had a newborn daughter named Kathy at the time. He also had an ex wife and a son in Germany at the time. I have a captured North Korean flag, several artillery shell cases with the patch carved on them and years 45-46, 46-47, 47-48, 49-50, 50-51, 51-52. Each of the grandsons have one. I have over 200 photos, from Japan thru Korea to Fort McClellan Alabama. Very few are identified. Several are fundraiser, recreation activities, award services, and lots of places.
