Comments: I'm a student of the Korean War. In my studies I frequently read of the courage and leadership of Capt. Frank Munoz. It seems he was in the hottest action in the early going, and always managed to get the best from what he had at hand. I'd like to learn more about his post-Korea career and life. An admirable man!

Comments: I was wounded by a landmine in August of 1950 after the remains of the 34th was transferred to the 19th Inf Rgt.

I got to Japan in 1949 as a 16 year old. I drove for one of the Bn officers.

At Osan I was with D Co as the Task Force Smith men filed back through our lines.

Richard Gray, my friend, was killed beside me.

I became a Scout BAR man with M Co 19th before I stepped on the landmine.

Evacuated to Japan and then home after lose of my leg.

I have been trying to find the family of Richard Gray who was from Oldham County, TX so I could finally tell them how Richard died.

Looking forward to hearing from former unit members of both regiments. Our stories need to be told from Osan to the Pusan Perimeter and beyond.

Witson

David Kennard wrote on 2004-06-19 11:55:47.0

Comments: My Father, Kenton Neil Kennard, and I are traveling to Korea this summer and are interested in figuring out where exactly he was wounded. It happened the morning of February 4, 1951, somewhere north of Chungju, maybe somewhere near the Han river. He joined Company K as a replacement in January 1951 at the Repo Depot in Taegu. He was wounded and captured by the Chinese on February 4, 1951. A platoon commanded by Lt Richi (spelling?) recovered him on February 19, 1951 and a helicopter flew him to a MASH in Chungju.

If anyone knows where Company K was the night of February 3 and the morning of February 4, 1951, please let me know.

We would also like to find Lt. Richi or any information about him to thank him for finding my father and for the pictures.

I am the cousin of Rayford H. Harper killed 04-26-51. I vividly recall the funeral and How his death affected his family,Especially my uncle Kelly,Rayfords father.

They (father and son) Had a petty argument over the loan of the family car just prior to Rayford's being shipped to Korea and my Uncle greived over it until his own death a few years later.

I am seeking information concerning Rayfords death and\or anyone who may have known him. I believe he recieved the Silver Star and am wondering about that also. His remaining family is in poor health and have very little helpful information themselves.

Sincerly, D.L. Harper/Jeff Harper

Comments: My dad died when I was 17 (1987)and didn't talk about his time in the Korean War and I would like to find out about his time there.

There are many pictures he took that I have of many war buddies, mostly last names. One guy in particular is in many of them, his name is Pete Bucco. I also found a letter written to my dad from guys that he worked with, the letter was written by Angelo Norscia and John Mages. My dad was a welder and was part of the service/maintenance department. Some last names mentioned in the letter are: Camarda Duniout Lombardi Santella Carosella Jeffries Sundberg

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Dan Colella

When i retrned to my unit I was on rotation orders and never went back on line. our last fire fight was surely hell on earth. We were pinned down by the Chinese right after we went on the attack. I was told there were only five left in the platoon that evening and the platoon runner was the highest ranking person still on line. If anyone else was in this battle let me know.

Division) was KIA he was by the Kum River helping one of his fellow soldiers. (This happened 16 July 1950) I'm trying to find out if the man he was helping died or if he lived. I'm also trying to find the soldier who brought my Uncle's body home to his family a year later. I know he went to see my Uncle's family and couldn't talk to my Grandma Connie (Joe's sister) because she acted just like Joe. If anyone has any inforamtion on these two men please contact me. He was from the Upper Penninsula of Michigan, and may have been known as "Rolly" to his friends. I have grown up listening to the stories my mother tells of him as a young boy, and would reall like to learn about the soldier he became.

Comments: I am Gary Morris, John's brother. He also went by the name "Jack". I want to try to possibly locate his body and bring him home and also try to contact other men that may have known him that are still alive today. I want to find out as much about what happen and where it happen. My Dad tried to investigate in the early 50's but was declined all information. He never spoke about it since. From the Coalition database, derived from DPMO data, it indicated Sgt. John C. Morris RA 19340024 missing in action 10/08/1950 and his death as 10/08/1950. However his status is POW and his name appears on the "944 List"...which means he was probably in the hands of the Chinese and/or North Koreans after his capture classified as a prisoner of war. Date of arrival in Korea was approx. July 2, 1950. That is the only information I have so far. Any assistance, information anyone can provide, or anyone that is still alive today that knew my brother, please contact me. Anything is appreciated.

He was listed on the "944 List" and date of him being killed was 10/8/1950. He was involved in the "Death March of the 200". I'm his only living survivor now, as both our parents are deceased and neither of us have siblings. What I would like to find out is if there is anyone that remembers my brother who I may get in contact with. At the time of his death I was 5 years old, but have fond memories of him as a child. I would like to find out anything I could of where he was killed, and maybe someday be able to have his body brought home. But mostly, I just would like to talk to someone who may have known him. Anything you can assist me with is appreciated.

Comments: The Kentucky Historical Society has recently authorized a state historial markerin rememberence of Chaplain Herman Felhoelter and his heroism in the Korean War. It will be placed in the Louisville, Kentucky neighborhood where he was born and raised. For those unaware of Chaplain Felhoelter's heroism he volunteered to stay with a group of wounded 24th Division soldiers rather than retire with the troops. He was killed by North Korean soldiers when they overran the area where he and the wounded soldiers were.

Racial Mis-Classification of 19th IR KIA/MIA?

Brian McGinn wrote on 2002-04-16 13:38:57.0

Comments: PFC Patrick McEnery, I CO., 19th IR, KIA/MIA on 11/13/51, is classified on this and other sites as "Black." This would have surprised Con and Bridget McEnery in Glin, Co. Limerick, Ireland, whose son Patrick McEnery, born October 1927, emigrated to Chicago, IL in 1949 and was drafted in January 1951. In December 1951, they were notified of Patrick's death in Korea. The Irish soldier's remains were not recovered/returned to his family. In short, all information provided by the McEnery family in Ireland to my colleague Stephen Murphy (himself the nephew of a Korean War MIA) appears to match the data for the reported African-American Patrick McEnery. Can anyone shed any light on the whereabouts and engagements of I Co. on November 13, 1951? Any suggestions on how Patrick's sister can rectify this apparent error regarding her brother? Comments: Praise the Lord for ALL veterans from all of the wars Americans have been in. I'm personaly thankful! My dad came home from Korea with some very ugly memories of that war and pieces of a truck imbedded in his leg. My husband and two Uncles made it home from Vietnam, some missing body parts. I don't believe in the term CONFLICT or any others that try to demean what our Military Forces have been through; have fought for; have been injuried for; have died for whether male or female. Thank you for the freedom I'm able to enjoy.

I'm trying to make contact with any and all Army veterans that remember my dad. He is alive and doing great in California. I know he was in Korea July 1959-July 1951. I don't know the dates but he was also stationed in New Jersey; Japan; the Panama Canal Zone (before 1953-1955/56); Fort Sam Houston,TX; and Fort Ord, CA.

My dad was born in Branson, MO. I also remember that one of his friends was Otis Spears. Please get back to me about this. I KNOW my dad would be so happy to hear from you. Thank you, Mary

Comments: I am looking for information about my Great Uncle Charlie. He was KIA July 16, 1950 and received a Purlpe Heart after his death, he was only 19 years old. I have named my son after him and I would like to recieve any information anyone can share about him. I have always wanted to know more about him, but it was hard for my family to talk about it. My mom and I have gone through most of his letters he wrote to my Grandma and he seemed so sweet and kind, his last letter is dated July 16, 1950 which is very erie. Also he was listed as MIA for 2 years and then KIA, but his body was never sent back home, so we are not sure exactly when he died. If anybody knew him or knew of him please email me. Thank you, Victoria

Comments: I posted a message here in 1998. Two years later I got an e-mail in response. Because of your wonderful web page I was able to meet with nine men that served with my Father. These men came to my home town from all over America. We had a great time. I have never met a better bunch of guys. I could see first hand why my Father was so proud to serve with these men. These men had not seen each other for fifty years, but the closeness they shared in Korea was still there! I am very greatful for this web page and the men of "Big Mike". Thanks so much, Harry Reed II
