Comments: I am looking to make contact with any family member so I may return a bible which belonged to a PFC David O. Howard. In this bible he wrote that he was currently serving in Korea in 1950 with 19th Infantry. He wrote his address on a street in Washington, DC. This bible has a zipper and inside it contains several personal items and messages and a hand made Easter cross. It is most likely this person served with my husband's father Lt. James Anders from the Washington, DC area. I would only like to return this bible to this service member's family.

Comments: The 19th Infantry Regiment was located just to the north of the Injim river. I served there in 1956. My job was to guard the perimeter where the commanding officer was located. During a fierce completion in 1957, I was fooed as the best infantry enlisted man. I was E-4 at the time. Though it had been published that the war ended (an armistice was signed), this really was not true. The North Korean soldiers loved to harass us mainly at night. They also picked on the guards that were on duty at demilitarized zone (DMZ). One night I was involved in a shoot out with North KOrean agents who were trying to cross the river. I don't know of the outcome because it was a very dark night. I suppose this is why they chose that particular night. In December 1957, I was called tot he DMZ at midnight to pickup 2 North Korean soldiers and bring them to ROK (Republic of Korea) army intelligence unit a few miles south. Just before we got to our destination a PFC who accompanied me stopped the jeep and wanted execute the prisoners. I confronted him and persuaded to stay cool and get back on the jeep. From that moment on, I had to point my .45 to the driver and the prisoners. There were no paved roads, no trees standing, no town. Everywhere was destruction. But after many years South Korea has come a long way in rebuilding. The South Koreans were very nice people although they suffered a lot. I'm glad that I served in my unit in keeping the wreckless North Korean army from invading the south again.

He was taken prisoner in the early part of the war and eventually died in a Prison Camp. I still have a Surrender Leaflett with his name signed in green ink. I do not know if he signed the document or it is a forgery. He says that he has been treated swell. I am certain that he was treated so swell that it killed him. Billy,s remains were sent home as part of Operation Glory after the war. I would like to contact anyone who might have known him before or after his capture.

My Father, a member of the Australian 3rd Battalion RAR was KIA on 5 November 1950, however, his remains were held in a mausoleum in Japan and not buried until August 1955, following the assessment of what I believe to be the US Board of Review - established for the purpose of identifying remains and arranging for burial,. Rev B Vaughan Parry conducted my Father's burial rites.
Whilst I've managed to get some information from the Australian War Archives, I am beginning to think more information may be held in the US War Archives so if anyone is able to help point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated

Comments: I am looking for any info on my uncle. he was listed
as mia then changed to kia on 11-04-1950. He was 35
years old and had a tendency to go up and down the
ranks. He was artistic and painted several pics.
Uncle Ray had no children but many nieces and nephews
who care. He survived the battle of the Bulge. It has
bothered me a lot knowing that he was mia before
confirmation due to the fact that he was killed
during that extremely cold time. Any info good or bad
would be appreciated. Also Welcome home to all who
served. I am not a hero but I served with many.

Comments: This is an email up-date, also.

My dad died four years ago from lung cancer, he lived
long enough to receive his service medal from the
People's republic of S. Korea, very cool!

Comments: I am trying to help my Brother-In-Law (Luther Ray
McCallister) with his VA Claim. His military records
were burned in the fire at the NPRC, St Louis MO and
we cannot find any evidence/proof of his service in
Korea. Does anyone know of Morning Reports/Unit
Rosters. He was a cook. He doesn't recall the
company he was assigned to, only the 19th Regiment
24th Infantry Division. Thanks!

Can anyone tell me what his unit number was or any
information at all?
