Comments: We have just returned from a wonderful reunion of Korean War Veterans that was held from Oct 3rd thru the 6th in Laughlin, Nevada which is 95 miles west of Las Vegas. Our group was small, about a dozen couples, but we joined in with a large group of others, over 300 from all over the U.S.A.-We found out that we did not need a ton of people to have a good time as we blended in with the other groups. Most of all, we learned that we should not have to wait another 50 or so years to do this again, so guess what? Yep, thats right. We want to do it again next year. Anybody care to join us. It will be around the same time next year. The only difference is that we will all be a year older(only in age). Want to come?? E-mail, call, or write me. I can guaranty that you will receive an answer.

Trying To Find The True Whereabouts

Jewelester Jackson wrote on 2005-09-23 00:00:00.0

Comments: I am the sole surviving son of my father killed in action in South Korea on May 4, 1951, which happens to be my birthdate. His unit in Korea was 194th Engineer Battalion. His rank was PFC when he died. His name was Jewel Clark. Born in Waelder, Texas. There is a military gravemarker at the burial site, but there is some skepticism about his remains being there. I am aware any number of things can account for that with none of them being out of the ordinary, but what troubles me is I have not been able to find any official records of his death with the government except the the gravestone. Please if you know of any way I can obtain any information about my father or for what accounts for appears to be a cruel mystery, I would be eternally grateful. Even if you have no personal documents, photos or info you may share with me, I would be eternally grateful if you could direct me to the government agencies that could answer some of my lifelong questions about my father. I feel as if some sick joke has been played on me all my life because from what I can gleen from family members he was killed on my birthday when returning to the states to marry my mother. I was born May 4, 1951. His sister has recently passed away would you believe it on May 4, !992. I don't mean to sound like a sob case, but I have to admit over the course of the last 54 years of my life, these circumstances have remained at the forefront in my mind. I would appreciate any small thing anyone can do to help a man ignorant of some of the most basic things about his father become a realization. Sincerely

Comments: Happened to be scrolling therough this new-fangled thing called "the net" and lo and behold here was all this mail under the heading 194 etc. I was one of the guardsmen from Oak Ridge, TN. The unit was activated on Aug 19, 1950 and shipped to Ft Lewis for training. I believe that we shipped out of Ft Lawton on Jan 6, 1951 and arrived in Pusan sometime in early Feb. Mostly roads and bridges on the way to Kumwah and surrounding area. to the bet of my memory we always seemed to be operating in platoon or squad units, therefor I don't remember to much of the other companies. Some of the original boys (most were in the teen to early twenties) re-uped, a few settled in Oak Ridge. Not much contact with any of the original group. It was a n interesting time and from what I have read things changed afer most of us rotated out in December 51.

I was with H&S from 1952 until 1953. Is there going to be a 2005 reunion? The only item that I have are my orders to rotate and that period in my life has slowly faded.

Comments: CALLING ALL 194TH COMBAT ENGINEER VETERANS OF KOREA------------- We, Marvin Tenopir,Chuck Havey, and myself are still trying to locate as many former veterans of the 194th Combat Engineer Battalion as we can to hold a reunion. Time is starting to get away from us now. We wanted to do this sometime in 2005 while we are still "YOUNG". How about it. Are you guys interested?? We served in 1951-1952 era,but we don't care whether or not we knew you or when you were there. Just as long as you were with the 194th ECB, so don't procrastinate over this. Get in touch with me ASAP. I can also put you in touch with Marvin or Chuck if you wish to contact either of them. But remember. DO IT NOW. TIME IS GETTING SHORT and I hate to say it, but we are not getting any younger. Those who knew me called me Sandy. I drove a 6 ton tractor/trailer in the Hvy Equip Section.
