Comments: Correction to earlier message: The 2d BN, 187th (not 3d BN) is the unit for which I am seeking information at the Battle of Sillim-ni, 19-20 Feb 1951, along with the other units mentioned. This was a typographical error. Please accept my apologies for the confusion! Thank you to those who have provided their valuable foo so far.

The posting should read:

Comments: I am doing historical research on the Battle of Sillim-ni, Korea which took place 19-20 FEB 1951 involving the 2d BN, 187th RCT (ABN) and supporting elements from the 674th FA BN (including all of B Battery), a platoon of 4.2 inch mortars, an additional unidentified 155mm howitzer Battery, and an evacuation Platoon from the 187th RCT Medical Company.

I would like to talk with any surviving members of these units who participated in this action, if possible. Would also appreciate copies any materials, pictures, or notes from family members/descendants that have a direct bearing on the events of this action.

2D BN units fighting in this action include Companies E, F, G, and H. G Company bore the brunt of the casualties.

Any conversations, notes, documents, etc. will receive attribution during publication.

Comments: Hello. I am the daughter of James R. West. He served for over 20

years in the Army. His first deployment was to Korea in late

1949 or early 1950 where he was assigned to the 187th. He was a

paratrooper. He told me stories of moving through the country on

a half-track with four 50mm quads on it. He said he arrived just

after the 187th had rescued the general captured by the enemy.

I was wondering if anyone out there remembers my dad. He would

have only been about 19 years old at the time. It would be great

to get in touch with fellow soldiers who knew him back then.

Comments: My daddy, who was from Lake Providence, LA, died when I
was only nine months old. My mother knew little and
spoke little about my father's time in Korea. I know he
had T51 on his dog tag, so I'd guess his first jump
would've been was made on Wednesday, March 21, 1951, at
Munsan-ni, South Korea code-named Operation Tomahawk.
That was the second of the 187th's six campaigns. The
first was in 1950 before was inoculated.
I hope I have him in the right regiment.
If anyone was in any of these campaigns, I'd love to
just hear from someone who's got a story or three to
tell just so I may know a little more about the man I
never met.
Thanx so much!!

Comments: My dad, LT WILLIAM E. EBERHART served in Korea with 3
different outfits, first the 34th at Taejon Battle
July 30, 1950...later with 187th RCT including a jump
into North Korea in July 1951 (not among the mass
jumps)....then later with the 19th in Kumson.

If anyone served with him or remembers him, I would
very much appreciate them getting in touch with me as
I am researching his military career.

I also have his 201 file which includes many records
and orders listing other soldiers names and orders.

THANK YOU!

cancer he received a promotion on streets of gold.

2. I am looking for detailed information on the

Thank you to all who serve.

Comments: I was wondering if anyone knew my Grandfather. He was a
Korean war vet and did at least one combat jump. He was
shot on the way down. I know that he was a member of
either C or F company. He was really good friends with
PFC Robert Scott who was killed on 28 Oct 1951 at Pork
Chop Hill. If anyone can help me it would be greatly
appreciate.

LOOKING FOR ANYBODY WHO KNEW JERRY HUDSON IN KOREA. HE WAS MY GRANDFATHER.

Comments: My grandfather, Jerry Hudson, has been deceased since the late 90's. My
brothers and I are all three current army veterans of the wars in Iraq and
Afghanistan. I was too young for him to share any stories about his
experience in the Army and the Korean War. I don't know how to find out
what he did and if he made both combat jumps. I miss him greatly and I
wish he were alive today to trade grim war stories back and forth. I don't
know what his rank was; I have so many questions...

Please contact me in any way concerning him and his outfit. Any piece of
information provided can only serve to enhance the legacy of my family's
service to our country through the army. AIRBORNE!
