Comments: This is a great site. My uncle Charlie was in the battle at Pork Chop Hill. Although he'll never talk about it, and I won't push him to, the story has fascinated me for many years. Gegory Peck's movie didn't help none either! I love that film! Tried to have a forum going on the battle in Yahoo Clubs but it was deleted sometime ago due to lack of interest. I'm trying again. I just started another one in Yahoo Groups. Also called Pork Chop Hill. Everybody is welcome. Looking for photos of Pork Chop Hill taken during the battle and as it is today. Has to be some. Anybody who has knowledge on this battle who can add info to the forum, please feel free to do so. Anybody with photos, please feel free to post them. It's open to anybody who has the interest. Veterans, historians, reenactors, artists, etc. It's been a while since I last chatted with you folks so I hope you all are well and had a great holiday season. I hope this Project is going well too. Appears to be. John

Ron Bower wrote on 2001-11-11 15:24:24.0
Comments: Would like to contact anyone who may have known my Uncle Sgt Earl Skelton, nicknamed "Bunny." A loud, boisterous man who loved to party, sing, and soldier. He was from Philadelphia, PA., a veteran of WWII (1st CIB)(North Africa (1stID, Sicily(1st ID), Normandy, 90th ID) and served with 17th Infantry in Korea (51-53). I believe he was assigned to A Company/17th Inf Regt where he earned his 2nd CIB. Was with 17th at Inchon, during withdrawal through Wonson, and although I am not sure I believe he was at Pork Chop Hill. A special soldier, went onto serve in Viet Nam with 4th ID in 1967, said he wanted to go because "those young guys needed his help." My inspiration, encouraged me to become a soldier and I persevered to rise to rank of Lieutenant Colonel, Infantry (41 years of service) to honor his memory. I too served with 17th Infantry Regt and 1st Bde 7th Div (66-67)as an Infantry LT. Would like to speak with at least one or two who might shed some light on the most interesting man I have ever known, and the great men he served with in that desolate and harsh part of the world. Am now in Jacksonville NC and have contact with many USMC veterans of Chosin, et al. I am a historian and would appreciate any responses/inquiries. Can I help anyone else? Regards to all Korean Vets on this 11th of Nov 2001. They call it a "Forgotten War,".....not forgotten by me.

Comments: My dad, Sylvester Romett, is looking for Lt. Baxter A. Valtz. He was in the 7th Infantry, 17th Regiment, Company A in Korea around 1951.
After 50 years of complete silence about the Korean War, my dad has finally been able to talk to his kids about it.
From what I can gather, many in the Company were killed and Lt. Valtz helped save my dad's life. We all would like to find him and thank him.

Comments: I am looking for any information anyone might have about my old friend Buddy Schaad, who was KIA in Korea on 8/31/51. I know he was with the 17th Rgt, and that's about all I know.
He was a wonderful, fun-loving guy who worked with horses before he went in the service. I think of him often, but only now discovered this web site.
