William "Bill" Gallagher was in 17th FAB, Battery B. He was wounded in Chipri on October 13th, 1951. He remembers his Sergeant being Sgt. Mitchell. He has many pictures of his unit, and wants to put the pictures online when we figure out how to do it. He manned the 8" Howitzer and said he was with a great bunch of guys. When it was time to go home he ( there were eleven guys but only room for ten to leave on the vehicle ) was the guy who drew the short straw. He did however see his buddies one last time. As he was getting off the boat to check in to the hospital, his pals were getting on to go home. He said they were so happy to see he made it out of there. One of the greatest of all people I have ever known was a 'Captain Gray'. His driver at one time was Doyle McCoy. There has been something I have always wanted to un-do in regards to this fine Captain, and only he and I know what it was. Members of Btry A, 17th FABN had one of the very best.
