Comments: Would like to communicate with anyone from Co. G; or anyone requesting info regarding same. Also, to help expedite your requests, each Nat'l Guard unit was originally from an OK city/town. You can write to the following towns and request info thru the local newspaper "Letters to The Editor" reguarding individual T-Birds. The 2nd Battalion units/towns are as follows: Hq Co, Lawton,OK; Easy Co., Walters, OK; Fox Co., Frederick, Ok.; George Co., Marlow, OK; and How Co., and Medic Co., Ardmore, OK. I recommend (per Pope, of Fox Co.) Penn Rabb's outstanding documentary of the 179th, "PEACEPIPE & TOMAHAWK". Penn informed me at Christmas Time he's down to his last few cases of books (see Pope's comments above).Tell all your Buddies about this Web and let's get the 'ol 179th to Rocking again!!

Comments: Let us remember 2nd Lt. Russell J. McCann, Private John Pugh, Private Alfred A. Loken, Sgt. Ervin Hulett, PFC Louis J. Hatcher and Private Chester F. Reas, Jr., all killed defending their positions against overwhelming North Korean forces shortly after midnight on Christmas 1952 in the shadow of Sniper's Rock. And a salute to their comrades who survived the tempest. A terrible Christmas, indeed.

Comments: ANYONE REMEMBER "AKRON RELAY" RADIO STATION? The stolen cans of peaches (our emergency rations). The Naval anti-aircraft gun with no ammo? The Korean grave mounds that leaked in the rain? The rain that never stopped? The little critters setting off the warning flares all night long? The nurses talking to their boy friends not knowing we were listening? The crazy MP Captain claiming we had women hidden up there? And the machine-gunner who was always "seeing" someone coming up the path and fired off a belt? Anyone remember those fun times?
HOW COULD ANYONE FORGET THOSE FUN TIMES?

Comments: There is a great new book out, Tomahawk And Peace Pipe, The 179th Infantry Regiment. Written by a man in G Company, named Penn Rabb.
It begins with the reorganizing the Regiment in the late 1940's, to Camp Polk, Hokkaido and Korea, up until the end of the war.
It gives the names, dates and places, and the story of the men (by name) who servied in the squads, platoons and companies - the combat soldiers who conducted raids, went on patrols and manned the many outposts.
It is a hard cover coffee table size book, with picturs and maps.

Comments: I am writing on behalf of my Father, Bonifacio M. Garcia, from Santa Rosa, NM, who served in the 179th Infantry Regiment, Charlie Company from the Autumn of 1950 to the Spring of 1952. I have recently assembled his photos taken during his service. They reflect Basic Training at Fort Polk, LA, the subsequent boat trip through the Panama Canal to Camp Chitose, and the group's Korean battle experiences. In particular, there are poignant images that show the evolution of carefree young men into war weary soldiers. I invite any contact with interest in Charlie Company, 2nd Platoon. Richard Garcia

Comments: interested in corresponding with anyone who served with my father cpl. Hoyt Cocke from va. He was a bar man and was wounded on june 22,1952. He served in korea i believe from dec 1951 to june 1952. He was wounded in the leg by a grenade. I am interested in learning more about his service and that of the 45th in general. Thanks
