Comments: My dad use to tell stories, one I remember very well was how he stepped and fell into a kimchi patch and his unit made him burn his clothes and he still stunk. No one wanted to be near him for a couple of days. He passed away in 1994. He had 4 purple hearts that I remember and a bronze star. He said the best place to be when you were injured were the Swedish hospital ships. He said they had the best nurses.

My Grandfather-in-law doesn't remember a lot of what happened when he was in Korea. The family has reason to believe he was nominated for an award, but he turned it down. Is there any one who knew him or has stories of his time in Korea?

Comments: Ray, I was there on Old Baldy on the early morning in
JUNE (not January as reported in the Project)
when you rolled down the steep hillside--hit by shrapnel from an enemy grenade. I know it must have hurt you very badly because you let out a long, sustained scream. It didn't hurt but a minute, though, and you were gone from that miserable place.
You couldn't know, but only two of us were NOT hit. You, unfortunately, were among the other 39. It says in the Project that your remains were not recovered--I don't understand that at all. Over the 58 years since your number came up, I have thought of you very often. You were my buddy then, and you still are! Bruce

He was drafted in mid 1950 and sent to Camp Polk for initial training and then shipped out to Hokaido, Japan. While in Hokaido he trained at Camp Crawford and Camp Monty Strong prior to his unit shipping out to Korea. I do know his was in Japan Thanksgiving 1951. Following that date no more pictures or information was available. I belive the unit transferred to Korea and took up positions in the Old Baldy area. Any information would be helpful
Thanks in advance

Comments: I am the daughter of Henry Duke from Louisville, Ky. I don't know much about my Daddy because he passed away when I was 11 and all I really know about his time in the army is the mention of "Pagan Raiders" and honestly he didn't talk to any of us about his time in the army. I have heard stories that he was found lying in bed with his gun on occasion and had a tough time dealing with it all when he came home but he was 44 when I was born and I only had 11 years with him. I am hoping that someone knows and remembers him and could help me learn more about my daddy. Thank you for any info you might have!

Comments: Does anyone know my dad or there when he was shot.
My dad was shot on Christmas Hill and to this day has scrap metal is exiting his right temple area. (he received the bronze star w/valor and a purple heart).
Before connecting with Wayne and the Chirstmas Hill Brothers. Purple Heart, Bronze Star w/valor and UN Service Metal. My Dad and so many others deserve so much for serving their country. I intend to strive forward, until they pay him for the physical and emotional pain he's suffered for over fifty years!! The 10% is no where close to appropriate. Anyone that served with my dad, please contact me.
Thanks and God Bless the Veterans of War
