Comments: I would like to hear from any buddies from the units I served with. Some of the names I still remember are Fred Rahner, Dave Edwards, Bennie Eaves, Bob Paulin, Bob Dent, and there are a host of others. Let me hear from you by in any format you choose.
I have been back to Korea several timem in fact, my wife any I have spent a total of two and a half years in Korea as English language teachers. Man!! Has the place changed. I have been to the area where the 15th Regt spent a good bit of time in the Chorwon Valley, Khumwha Valley and places in-between and around. I have looked over that long, long fence several times into the DMZ and beyond where we all left buddies.
Good luck and the best to all of our comrades of the Korean War.

andrew pawlick wrote on 2001-07-30 12:17:52.0
Comments: Cpl. Jerz and the rest of his 15th Regiment had been covering. the eastern portion of the withdrawal, fighting a continuous series of delaying actions against the Chinese forces who, between assaults, were constantly probing, ambushing, and setting-up their roadblocks to slow the allied forces' retreat. By mid-December, Army and Marine forces pulling back from the Chosin Perimeter had gained the momentary safety of a well-defended perimeter around Hamhung and Hungnam, on the eastern shore above Wonsan. The 15th Infantry had a vital role in this defense as exhausted troops passed thru their lines. Those who could still stand and fight did so, others went directly to awaiting ships. As the defensive perimeter shrank to the port of Hungnam, more and more fighting men were withdrawn by stages. The eleventh-hour defense fell largely to the 15th Infantry. Here Cpl. Jerz fell on Dec. 20. His body was recovered, positively identified, and buried in a temporary UN Military Cemetary, Hungnam #2, in Space A-2-38, where we hope he still lies today.

I have only photos from his album to guide me in finding out more information--the album includes photos of his buddies in the regiment to include Edward D. Tammy McKeighan wrote on 2001-07-17 12:57:27.0
Comments: My name is Tammy McKeighan. I'm trying to help a nice man who goes to my church. His name is Ray Jimenez. He was in the Third Division, 15th Infantry, Company L in 1953-54. He went up to the 38th parallel and also was near the site where a truce was made. His friends called him Jim because they couldn't say Jimenez. He and his pals were riflemen. I helped Ray find a man named John Lamack who lives in Iowa and was in his outfit. Also John has a cousin named Lavern who lives about 9 miles away. The problem is Ray also wants to find a man named Jim Cooper, who would have been 24 or 25 at the time. He was a taller, more husky man with blond hair. When the guys came back from the service they went to Omaha and then went their separate ways. Jim was said to have been living in Omaha, Neb. or Council Bluffs, Iowa, but I've tried to call Jim Coopers and Jim Kupers to no avail. I've posted notices on military.com and other places, but haven't had any luck. We live in Fremont, Neb., so I went to the Dodge County Veterans Service Officer, but he said he couldn't help me without a social security number or birth date. He gave me American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars magazines and said to post listings in those. I tried ancestory.com and anybirthday.com and a zip code registry only to find out that there were lots of Jim Coopers born between the years of 1927 and 1929, not to mention all the other years. Anyway, I'm hoping you'll contact me whether or not you can help. My phone at work is 1-402-941-1433 and I have voice mail. My e-mail address is TammyMcKeighan@netscape.net. Thanks for all your help. Tammy M.

Comments: How dificult IT IS to admit one is wrong!!!!!!!!! The photo I wrote about is not Blody Ridge or Heartbreak Ridge. The correct hill mass is Old Baldy with the ridge line being in greid squar 2630 of the project map covering Little Gibraltar, both Nories ,Baldy and Pork Chop. All other information is correct. Someone els has read the photo into the wrong coordinance! Sincerely J.C. Poe

CO. 'M' ROSTER: A 'CLOSURE' AFTER ALMOST 50 YEARS |

Comments: I am so very thankful to have found the roster of Company "M" at this site and with my name (though slightly misspelled) on that roster!
With deep emotions it brought to closure a life-and-death experience we shared in unison almost fifty years ago --- and most of us pulled through as a TEAM!
Every one that was there deserves our shared thanks and a solid salute! We can indeed be proud!
