Comments: I am looking for someone who may have served or have information regarding my Uncle Walter. My dad's and surviving Uncles' recollection is that he serve on the Quad 50's. He was a corporal and from New York City. He enlisted under my father's name, Henry Torres, since he was not of legal age so he might have been called Henry instead of Walter. He was two months shy of turning 18 yrs old when he was declared MIA (12/2/1950). A Btry, 64th AAA Gun Bn

Comments: I transferred into the 64th AAA Gun Bn sometime in 1950. I was in the Quad .50 Squad, with a ground mount. I can't spell the 1st Sgt. name but when I rotated back to the States, Kenneth Merchant was 1st Sgt. I rotated some time in 1952. Came back to Ft. Ord for 7 months, shipped to Japan on way to Korea in 1953 & came home for discharge in 1954. If any from the 64th remember me, I'd like to hear from them. I've had 2 fires while living in Nevada & lost all my pic's from Japan. I have trouble remembering names now but believe I can remember some faces. I now live in Oregon.

MIA KIEK HERBERT M CPL ARMY LOS ANGELES CALIFORNIA 02 DEC 1950

My Uncle Herbert Kiek was MIA @ Chosin Resovoir. I have heard he kept Chinese/N. Korean troops @ bay with a .50 cal. machine gun until they saw him being overrun. There was slght hope he may have survivied as he allegedly had won a large amount of money the night before gambling with his co-horts. Anyway, he was delcared MIA & was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, UN & Republic of S.Korean Service medals. I have recently been contacted by American Armed Forces Joint MIA/KIA Accounting Command(JPAC). JPAC and the Army Casualty Office are looking for a family member to donate a DNA sample to be used for the identification of remains recovered from the Korean War which we have been advised may be those of US Army Sergeant Herbert Kiek. I just wanted ask if anyone had heard any other information on this event, the records I have found show: KIEK HERBERT M CPL ARMY LOS ANGELES CALIFORNIA 02 DEC 1950 DIED WHILE MISSING; he must have been posthumously promoted to Sgt. TF Faith

Comments: For a study of the casualties incurred by TF Faith (31st Regimental Combat Team) from 27 November 1950-03 December 1950, I would like help in determining individuals unit assignments.

Using the KWP and a 7th Division site I have been able to populate databases with the information related to the units of TF Faith. However these records only provide unit information to the regiment level. In order to make sense of the records as they relate to TF Faith I need to find an individual's Battalion, Company/Battery and Platoon level (if possible) for the units listed below.

I am particularly interested in obtaining copies of contemporary documentation (rosters, morning reports, special orders, reports, letters, etc.) that may aid in these identifications. Lists of names and unit designations of individuals that you recall would also be of interest.

Comments: Many books written about the battles in Korea sometimes mention Quad 50's and Twin 40's but the writer often does not search to properly find the unit in battle and assumes it was a unit organic to that particular Division,therefore you will often not find the 50thAAA mentioned in these writings.

Keywords: 50thAAA upon landing with 7thDiv was then assigned to several units of the 1st Mar.Div.during several battles for Inchon -Uijongbu-Seoul-Kimpo. Then again landed with 7th Div.at Iwon and was again reassigned to 3rd Inf.Div.and then called to Chinhung-ni and other towns along the way to Chosin to aid in the rescue of the trapped Marines.After the Chosin Campaign, it became a part of 8th Army and served in many more battles in its drive to Seoul again.

My two main interests are: researching info on my father who was MIA in November of 1950 and compiling a list of "Cacti"(35th Inf) members, both past and present. It currently (Apr. 2000) consists of approx. 7500 names, yet is far from complete. Comments: Unit Activated Sept 1948, Lt. Col Kenneth Yarnell cammander. Cadre trained till 1/18/49 recruits started 8 weeks basic 1/31/49, completed 3/26/49. Then a 23 week unit training. Unit sent to Ft Lewis for further training and then off to the Inchon Landing the Marines 9/15/50, Army 9/17/50. I'm looking for anyone from Hq, A, B, C, and d Btry time frame 1/15/49 thru 7/10/51. This is the day I rotated from Korea never to see the 15th again.

JOHN FINNIGAN TANK SERGENT

Comments: I ma looking for anyone who served with Sergent John Finnigan.

He drove tanks and was assigned to the 7th division AAA AW Bn. He was awarded the silver star as he saved 15 wounded men under heavy enemy fire.
