Comments: I would like to know how one goes about getting a copy of the unit War Diary of B Btry, 159th FA Bn. . I know one existed because I made several entries in it. They surely are declassified by now and hopefully are available to those who served in the battery. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Comments: I was wounded by mortar fire near the Naktong River in Korea while supporting the 1st Bn, 24th Inf Regt as the NCOIC of Captain Skiffington's Liaison Team. This mortar attack occurred on the early morning of September 22, 1950. We were bivouaced in a dry creek bed during a forced march to join the 27th Infantry Regt in preparation for the Inchon Landing. I was evactuated to Pusan and flown to Japan for treatment at the 28th Army Hospital in Osaka. I never returned to the 159 after my recovery. I have recently met with Walter Johnson, who was the Chaplain's driver in Nara. He is now The Reverened W. Robert Johnson, The AME Church Headquarters in North Carolina. He is alive and well as of this note.
I have attended one 25th Inf Div Reunion, but met only a few 24th Inf Regt alumni.
I am always looking for news of a 159 (1946-) reunion.

Comments: I joined the 159th FA Bn after being recruited at the Army Replacement Detachment in Tachikawa Air Base in Honshu, Japan in November, 1946. I arrived in Nara on December 7, 1946, and was assigned to H&H Battery, in the old Japanese barracks.I was on Special Duty with the commissary at the Kurokamiyama Dependent Commissary in 1949. James Green a cook in A Btry was the butcher. I worked at the commissary until we were given orders to close camp and entrain for Sasebo for transport to Korea. We arrived in Pusan on the Morning of July 12, 1950 and were immediately committed to combat to support the 24th Infantry Regt., arriving from Gifu. I remained with the 159 woking for Sgt Major George Anderson until I was assigned as a liaison member in Capt Skiffington.s team. I was wounded on the morning of Sept 7, 1950 and air evacuated to the 28th Army Hospital in Osaka, Japan, where I remained until I was transferred to the 63rd FA Bn. in Camp Zama. I returned to the US and assigned to the 146th FA Bn in Ft Sill, where I found Sgt Major George Anderson attending OCS, and 1st Lt Walter Johnson assigned duty there.
I am now nearly 81 years old and living in New Jersey.

Comments: Looking for anyone who served with me from 53-55. We went to korea on the simon b. buckner, came back on the gordon. I was wounded 40 miles north of the 38th. Brigde was hit by enemy fire, some of my friends didn't make it when we jumped into the foxhole (Perez was one we lost). We were close to pork chop hill. I also severed as first cook. Our mail carrier was sgt. Ash. He drowned in the river while I was there. I was in the hospital in osayka, japan in 53. A few names I remember are, Frederick (IKE) Einenhower (mulberry, ark), sgt. sayers (Indiana), sgt. Saja (mich), Ralph Laurent (west weigo,la), Joe Larson (LA), Red Foreacre (colorado). I trained at Columbia, SC,and at Ft. Being,GA. I am originally from Tuscaloosa, AL. I went on weekend leave with two men from Alabama in the summer of 53. We went home to Alabama. Can't remember their names. We went home to Alabama while we were still in training. I also had R&R with friends on leave and we went to japan. If anyone remembers me or any of the men I served with, please contact me. Would like to find out who was the first Sgt. of able company. Can't remember the name. Would also like to find out info on the military hospital I was sent to in osayka, japan.

Comments: My uncle is a Korean War veteran, he's the last uncle I have and I really want to do as much for him while he's still with me. He served with the 159th in Korea from 1950 - 1951 in the early stages of the war. He was with the dispensary, his OIC was a Dr. Booker, his battery commander was a Captain Delgodo. He went to boot camp in Fort Dix, NJ. Fort Sam Houston for Medic Training. His unit of the 159th was the only all Black Field Artillery unit in the far east at that time. He was in Korea when President Truman intergrated the armed services. I'm doing the research for him, he doesn't have a computer yet, I'm working on that for him. Would love to exchange emails with any of the brave men of his unit. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SERVICE TO OUR GREAT NATION.
