Was on front lines Heartbreak Ridge. Landed at EnChong. He was a Corporal. He doesnt remeber much and never talked much about the war. Trying to see if anyone still alive he was with. He remembers a Lietenant Colson. A black man that he thinks was killed by him. Also a man last name of Jones killed next to him. He was in the 7th infantry division. One of his uniforms has a A5 on it but may have been before he left for Korea. I have his RA #. Mentioned King company. Remembers observation post duty. Please help with any information anyone may have. Thank you. Also in the tank division. SKull on front of tank. Keywords: Heartbreak Ridge 7th Infantry Tank Division Skull on front of tank. Only now have I thought about what my grandfather went through. He died when i was a young boy, and i never really knew what he did during his lifetime.I want to know, because I know that he is looking down on me from where he sits in heaven and smiles for what I do for my country, just as he did. I just want tknow more about this great hero because he affects my life so greatly.Please help there are no records of him anywhere. | DENNIS OTTLEY wrote on July 3, 2003 City and State: EVANSTON WY Unit: Service or Relationship: ARMY VETERAN - KOREA Comments: looking for lt epps from alabama who was my platoon leader when we lost our tank from anti- tank mine in the khumwa area and when our driver was wounded by artilery fire. i was the gunner on the tank at the time. during this time the tank retriever crew had dispursed for cover, because of the enemy artillery fire, when lt epps ran from cover and single handedly, while getting knocked down by artillery, hooked our tank up and pulled us to safety. lt epps received the silver star for his bravery. i have not been able to find him at this time, but would appreciate any assistance anyone could give me to help locate him. thank you. He did basics in Fort Knox and I understand many of the ppl he did basics with were in 89th. He was a tank loader and was in Inje several months. He was killed on hill 851 of Heartbreak Ridge on Sept 5, 52 by a sniper as he finished guard patrol. Someone out there must remember him??? Love to hear from you. His name is Jerry Owens (Lt.) from New York. He has a picture of him standing in front of a sign that say's "14th Regimental Tank Company". He was attached to the 14th Infantry Regiment (25th ID). He served mid 52 - mid 53. I'd love to hear from anyone who was in the unit during the same period. Also, my Dad sweved in WWII with the 11th Airborne Division. He was an enlisted man during WWII and was called up and sent to Armor Officer Basic Course at Ft. Knox.
