Comments: I am searching for any information on my father. He was a Corporal. I have letters sent to him by my Grandmother at: "14th Infantry Reg. Co. C, A.P.O. 25 c/o P.M. in San Francisco". I am assuming this how she got letters to him while he was in Korea. Some names that I found on some of the pictures he had from Korea are: Jack McCartney from Brooklyn, N.Y.; Fred Ledford, Everett Hill, Cpl E.C. "Sonny" Kelley. If anyone has information on these people or knew my father please e-mail me. My father died when I was ten, he was 35. My son is now thirteen, and I want him to know his Grandfather.

Comments: Iwas a Platoon Sgt. of the First Platoon, 14th Regt Tank Co. from late Jan 52 to Sept 1952. My first combat was the 2nd blocking position in the Mundung-ni Valley, where we had five tanks just north of the road supplying Heartbreak Ridge to the east, which was under enemy fire most of the time. Traffic would stop behine our position, wait, and make a run for it over the river to the valley leading up to Heartbreak Ridge. On the 8th of Feb.8th I was in command of the two tanks on Heartbreak Ridge. On 1 March we were replaced by I beleive the 35th Regt. Tank Co. The 14th Tank Co. returned to the front line to hill 1040 in the Punchbowl sector in April until Aug. The Commanding Officer was 1LT> Harry Wiliams,First Platoon Leader was 1LT McGregor, some of my Tank Commander were SFC Bucker T. Love, SGT>Sylvester Davis, SFC Johnny Wilson and gunner Cpl.Sutton. Would be nice to hear from you.

Comments: I joined the 14th back when it was the 34th Inf. That was at Camp Fuji, Japan. It was made up of replacements like me, and soldiers who had already been in Korea and returned due to wounds or other reasons. We landed in Pusan and rode the train up the country to a staging area. We replaced the 24th Inf. Regt (last all-black unit in the Army}. I went up with the advance party. We spent a lot of time on the line at Hill 1062. Later we were on line at Heartbreak Ridge.

Comments: My wife's cousin, Freddie Zavala, was considered missing since 6 of October, 1951. He became missing when his company was attacked near Kumhwa, North Korea.Since no sightings of Freddie Zavala were ever reported, he was considered Killed In Actiion after 12 months. However, no I.D. was ever returned or identified by the US. Government. Since my marriage, i was told this story by my wife and her cousins, and it has captured my curiosity so deeply, that i found it very, very hard to believe that that nothing has ever turned up regarding Freddie Zavala, of Needles, California 92363. If anyone was in the Kumhwa, N.Korea region during this time, October 1951,it would be nice to hear from you.
