Comments: My dad served two tours in Korea, the second in '52 till October '53 as a member of the 7th Infantry Division Artillery Medical Detachment. His first tour he was with the 14th/25th from '50-'51. After a short visit home, he went to Germany, then Japan and returned to Korea. Anyone who might remember Glen Fessler from Bloomingdale, IL, please contact me and I will pass the information along to Dad. Like so many, the 50th Anniversary brought back so many memories and emotions

He was a sargeant in the Army medical corps (but with the 7th Inf Reg when he returned in 53). Dad doesn't have a computer, but he would love to hear from others who served with him. Comments: Hello,

I’m trying to find out about when the 14 infantry was left on the line with the 2nd while the 25th rotated back. My Uncle Donald Turner was killed on November 4, 1951.

A letter sent to my grand parents spoke of Donald manning twin 50’s and they were over run when Donald couldn’t raise the gun high enough to shoot over the bodies of the Chinese. It also told of the Chinese wrapping their bodies with ace bandage material so that even when they were hit, it took 4 or 5 rounds to bring them down. This is what makes me thing that perhaps the 2nd may have some record.

http://www.2id.org/2idhistory2.htm “The massive relief once again was completed without mishap and the 2d Division assumed control on 20 December. The tactical situation saw the Division manning a four-regiment front, the 25th Division having left its 14th Regiment occupying one of the sectors. With the extra regiment, the Division was spread across a 22,000-meter line with only two infantry battalions and the 72d Tank Battalion in division reserve.”

“The 14th Regiment reverted to the control of its parent division on 29 January, necessitating an extension of boundaries to occupy the wide frontage with three regiments instead of four.”

“One battalion remained from the 25th Div Arty to provide direct support for the 14th Infantry Regiment, which became attached to the 2d Division.”

TURNER DONALD E Rank=CPL Serial Number=US55033726 Branch=Infantry Military Occupation Specialty=04745 Year of Birth=28 Race=Caucasian State of Residence=CO County of Residence=Bent Unit=14th Inf Regt Division=25th Div Type of Unit=Inf Regt Place of Casualty=North Korea Date of Casualty (yymmdd)=51 11 04 Type of Casualty=Killed in Action Detail of Casualty= Group of Casualty=Killed in Action Evacuation Disposition=

Any information on the battle fought that day would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

I have a final report from the war department that states he was with Co "C" 14th Infantry...it does not state what Regiment. I also have information that states he was with "I" Co. 38th Regiment 2nd Infantry Division. He was also in WW2 served in the Central Burma; India Burma. He was with Merrill's Marauders. I did not start my search until 2001. When I was young I always "sensed" Mom did not want to talk about my father. I was adopted when I was nine. Mom remarried about four months after Dad was killed. This seperated the "family" because of the short mourning period. Our step father loved Mom. He tolerated us children. The family of my biological father, my Mom and the family of my step father wanted nothing to do with us four "kids". I know that my mother never stopped loving my biological father. She told my step father. Does anyone remember my father William G. Farmer? Thank you for your HONEST and FAITHFUL SERVICE.

Comments: I was company clerk in the Hq & Hq Co, 14th Inf Regt beginning sometime about March 1953 until Jan 1954, that is, through the end of the war. I did however, make Corporal (and later SFC) and get the CIB. Since my retirement, I have written an unpublished book relating my personal experiences as I recall them during this period. I would welcome any corroborating experiences relative to dates of moves and activities and would be happy to share all or part of my book. Warning: it is long, about 450 pages.

Comments: I am looking for anyone who served with my uncle, Arnold Levine, in the 14th Regiment in Korea in 1951-52. I have an undated photo of him outside what I believe is the Regimental S-3 section. A sign with the Unit crest and "Headquarters 14th Infantry, The Right of the Line" can be seen in the background.

Comments: My father, Joseph J Klein was in Korea 8/51-5/52. When I ask him about the war, he doesn't seem too eager to share any memories. He trained at Leonard Wood in 1950 but then got food poisoning when they shipped out, so he didn't ship out with the guys he trained with. I'm curious to know what my Dad went through in Korea. Sorry for not providing more info but as I mentioned, he didn't ship out with his guys. I'm not sure what unit he ended up in. He was Army-Infantry.

Comments: Searching for any information on death of PFC Patrick A. White, KIA 10/06/1951 with 14th Inf. Regt. (company presently unknown). White was born in Dundalk, Co. Louth, Ireland, and had emigrated to Chicago area shortly before outbreak of Korean War. His brother CPL Michael A. White was with 1st Cav. Div. in Japan at time of Patrick's death. Word in the Irish-American community was that PFC White died "when he hurled his body to cover a hand grenade that had been thrown by the enemy among his comrades." PFC White's posthumous Purple Heart is dated 19 November 1951.
