Comments: Talked to MSGT James W. Bolt today and he let me know that I had posted my message in the wrong place. I had left it in the 24th div. I want to thank all the people who have helped me so far in spite of the fact that I and they did not know that I had misplaced the message!
My father-in-law David E Hall (may have gone by DE) passed away unexpectedly on 7-17-2006. We miss him and want to pay him honor by returning the photos that he took of some of his friends before the conflict began. He did put names on some of them. I have the original photos to give you or your family members.
I will send you the digitized ones first (via e-mail)and then if we have the correct person I will send them to you via the post office. Here are some of the names that I have Alverez,Guy Banner, Pina, Lee Morton, Hughes, Dawson, Davis, Sutton, Sgt. White, Malone, Jerry Mang, Jessie Miers, Miller, Mikell and wife, Osolia, Pedro,Williams and more. I also have a company photo of B company. It is all the men in the mess hall. If you or anyone you know recognizes any names on the list please e-mail me.
Just to let you know Joe Wszlok has his photos. He is the only one so far. My hope is return all the photos and especially return photos to the ones that lost loved ones. I want them to see how happy they were before the war. I can send anyone a list of names and if interested the B Battery digitized photo or other photos to verify a name or a friend. Please no researchers only family members or close friends.
Both my parents were also in the Korean War in the Air Force. My husband was in the Navy during the mid 70s. We know and appreciate what all you have done for us. God bless and thank you for your service to our country. Iris

Comments: I am looking for more information about my Dad and where he served , war buddies etc while in Korea. He was a member of the "First To Fight "24th Infantry and recieved a plaque with the Tara Leaf on it .He was shot and seriously wounded on July 16th 1950 ,he was only 18 years old. I have 4 of the 5 medals that he was given and also a Presidential Unit Citation. His Purple Heart is missing. He never talked about his service but he suffered from "SHELL SHOCK" is what my Mother called it.His knees and legs were full of shrapnel from the missle he was hit by and caused him constant pain and difficulty in walking. On December 21st 1987 the shrapnel caused a blood clot in his leg and he died from an allergic reaction to the dye test he was given in the Vet Hospital. He was only 55 years old.We miss him alot. When he told the story of his Korean casualty He said he was left for dead but some soldier "tripped "over him and when they realized he was alive pulled him to saftey. He counted every day beyond that day as a blessing. I would like to know who that soldier was because I want to thank him too, because without him I wouldnt be here today. He is a HERO in our family. I have a picture of my Dad in his uniform if that would help in identifying him.So if anyone has any info please Email me.

Comments: My sister,Joan Woeber, myself and girlfriends, Pat Johanson and Beverly Hislop, would get in our cars and drive over to Oak Knoll Naval Hospital, in the Oakland,California hills,(recently decommissioned I believe) and entertain the Korean veterans in the wards on a Friday night. One such veteran was Frank Combs whose name I note herein. There were multiple amputees in those wards and we enjoyed singing and playing the piano for those vets. It's nice to see this reunion taking place and it brings back fond memories for me ofthose youthful days. Good luck. Cookie (Claudine Woeber)

Comments: Last night 12/6/01 we said goodbye to our friend Jack. It was a sad goodbye to a charismatic individual. Jack died with no known family and only the few of us that had grown to like Jack during the 8 years following his stroke. Little has been done by anyone to remember Jack. He was given a paupers funeral with only a dozen in attendance. The VA did little more than give a flag and a burial plot at the fort Snelling cemetary. If anyone knew Jack please contact us or at least say a prayer for Jacks Soul. Jack was not only a veteran of Korea but also of ww2. We would like info on memorials in this state where we could have Jack listed or in some way remembered.

Comments: My father (Maj. or Lt. a the time. Not sure) John (Jack) Edward Hoppin used to tel a story of the time when the "brainwashed" prisoners of war were returned to military custody. These men apparently were treated as traitors until we found out differently, that they were brainwashed. He claimed to have been ther during the exchange. Does anyone out ther know the story. IS anyone out ther familiar with the incident? Does anyone remember my father? He passed away over 25 years ago about 15 years from his retirement from the Air Force as a LT. Col. He was stationed at Westover AFB when he retired.
