Information about Air Crash

Comments: My brother-in-law,Sgt. Arthur Scowcroft served in C Company, 1092nd Engineer Combat Battalion in Korea from Feb 1952 until his death in Nov 1952. He died in an air crash while returning to Seoul from R&R leave in Japan. The crash occurred near Seoul on November 14, 1952. I'd love to hear from anyone that served with Art and anyone that might have info about the air crash in which he perished.

Looking for friends of James E. Griggs Combat Infantry Engineers National Guard possibly

Comments: Looking for anyone who may have known him. He was sent to Korea to build bridges. Info I have says he was a Master Sgt in the Combat Infantry Engineers. Do not know which unit number. But I believe it was National Guard. He also served in Germany from 1944 to late 1945.

Looking for people I served with

Comments: In 1952 we worked at clearing mines from the side of the roads. The assignment was to clear all of them before winter time. It was already determined that it was impossible to do by hand in the winter. It was a very slow process as one mistake and you were blown up. The mines were buried very deep. We had no modern equipment to aid us. It was my first time in Charlie company and the first time out men were blown up-bad job. Hope some one is out there that was there at the same time. Would love to hear from you. I have a claim pending with CRSC and need someone who was there to corroborate my memories. But would love to swap memories.

Comments: If any one remembers Herbert send me an E Mail there is a picture of Herbert on this Web site. I beleive when he died prisoners took his body over the Yalu River and dumped in a ditch. I would like to find out if he was wounded and where.? Herbert was born Dec.16 1928 black hair brown eyes very pleasant person He was a member of the Wolfe Valley Baptist church in Mason County West Virginia. Remembrance of a fallen comrade

Comments: My father former SFC John D Brandt passed on in his sleep this morning 7 Nov 2004 after a short battle with cancer. He was a member of HQ/SVC 1092 Engineers. He was much loved and respected, as you all are, for his sacrifies during his life and military service. If there is anyone anywhere who could provide any info on him during his military service I would greatly appreciate it. I thank you all for what you did and everything you gave up to answer the call.

Comments: I just came across this site and have some connections with the 1092nd Army Engineer Batallion in Salem, WV. I have an older brother, now deceased that served in the Air Force during the Korean War. I served with the 1092nd Engineer Batallion,Company C from 1956 through 1959. From there, I enlisted in the Air Force in 1960 to my retirement, in 1985.Back then, I was Spec 4 J L Wood 1092nd Engineer Batallion, WV Army National Guard, Salem, WV. Our Company Commander at that time was a Captain Wayland as I recall. Our personnal Officer was CWO William D McKain, and our state Asst Adjutant General at that time was Lt. Col. William E. Miller.

The 1092nd served on active duty from Sept. 1950 to March 1955 in Korea and Japan and again was federalized in 1962 during the Cuban Missle Crisis and was sent to Florida. Comments: My Grandfather was an aviator who served with the 1092 Engineer Combat Bn in Korea between April 1951 and June 1951. His name was Creed Parrish. He was from Parkersburg, W.Va. He was a first Lt. in Korea and became a Captain in the National Gaurd following his tour of duty. He recently died of cancer in Piketon, Ohio. Creed never spoke much about his experiences in Korea, and his family would like to know more about his time there. We would also appreciate information regarding reunions in Parkersburg or other locations in W.Va.

Comments: I have a friend, who is terminally ill, that was in the 1092 Engineer Combat Battalion, Company "B" in 1952. His memories of old friends and the war are all that he has left. He wants very badly to be able to contact, through me, anybody who is still around from the Korean conflict. His name is John Cooper and at the time was a Sergeant. He is black and a superb person, with a great personality. His memories of fellow veterans incude: Lt. Jeffries, Commander, Co "B"; Sergeant F/C Alfred Bennett. Also members of the 25th Division, include a Sgt. Kincaid, Captain Lang, Cpl.Johnson, Sgt. Woolton, Sgt.Raymond Chambers. If anybody can help me out, in any way, I would certainly appreciate it.
