I served on the Diphda from 1950-1952. I understand the ship earned 6 battle stars for the years it was in
service. Can anyone tell me what they were specifically
for? While I was on board we had some great adventures.

I would like to know where Bill Daugherty is/ I promiseto send his gifts to his two little nephews
in Ohio. Lost the gifts and their address and bill's
address/ Bill served on the Diphda, then transferred to
the Cape Esperance in about 1953. He and Coyle escorted
me to a great Christman dinner dance. He may be inDisney, Oklahoma. When I knew him my name was Nancy
Powers, Let me hear from amyone. Thanks, Nancy

I served aboard the Diphda AKA59 from May 1952 until early 1954, went aboard the Hooper Island AR17 for a year, then back to the Diphda in 1955. I left the Diphda for discharge in December 1955. I was in the R division as the ships welder. I was a fireman going aboard and was discharged as ME1. Anyone remembering me please contact me at the above e-mail address
