The memory I have of Korea is of the extreme cold and very wet monsoon season. You could not get parts for the repair work that needed to be done. My son has served there since and tells me what it is like. I know years have passed and things do change for the better. He was unable to locate my old outfit which I am sure is no longer active.

I am looking to find photos of a man named Doyle 'Ducky' Cross. His granddaughter has asked me to try and find pictures of him. She said he served in the front line, but is not sure what infantry branch of the Army. She also gave me the dates of 1940-1942. If anyone has any information that would help, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks again and God Bless!!

This was a secret unit. I can't find info on this unit. I would like to get together with anyone from this unit for a reunion.

I served in Korea from July 1965 to August 1966, with the 2nd Battalion, 9th (MECH) Infantry, 2nd Infantry Division Headquarters (RC-2), Charlie Company at Camp McGovern. Captain, Pohlod, Leonard G. was the Commanding Officer for Charlie Company. Heard that Camp McGovern doesn't exsit anymore, perhaps the name was changed. Does anyone know the new name or where Camp McGovern used to be located (on the the map)?? I remember going to Camp Casey to cash my U.S. Bonds & enjoy some time off, so it must have been close to Camp Casey. I was 19 years old then, I'm now 60. I know there's got to be some of you who were assigned to Charlie Company still out there.

Ray Mundy of Joshua, TX, recently wrote:

(I want) to find someone in my outfit that could verify that we (were) getting sprayed (sic) almost daily.
I am trying to get a pension started & my record was destroyed in a fire in Kansas City & I have lost my medical records from about late 50s. I have until Feb. 1, 2004, to come up with some quote that we (were) getting sprayed. I appreciat you putting my requst on the internet.
My name is Raymond F. Mundy, 0184 (?). I was in the 46th (TAAM) Transportation Army Aircraft Maint. In Wonju (APO 613) I was a helicopter mechanic... I have no retirement and my Social Security just doesn't reach.
Any help you could give me in locating someone in my outift would be greatly appreciated.
My service time drafted 7-23-53 Korea about Feb. 54 to around March 55. Whole Co. pulled out to Japan and turned our compound over to ROC (sic) soldiers. Came home June 1956. End quote.

I think Ray must have had some illness in connection with the spraying. When I was at K-8 airbase in Kunsan from March until July, 1953, the base was sprayed weekly with DDT for mosquitoes. Perhaps that was his reference to spraying. He got my name because of my assignment in Wonju at K-46 airbase. However, my unit was on detachment to assist the 18th Fighter Bomber Wing, and I did not run into any Army units.

If anyone can help Ray, he can be reached at 748 County Road 909, Joshua, TX 76058-6314.
